DCS 1.28 does not even start

Greetings. I hope that someone else has the same problem of mine. I have DCS A10C I purchased from DCS and other series such as P-51, FC3, and Combined Arms I purchased from Steam. After updating to 1.28, I cannot even start DCS world nor my license information at DCS is gone except A10C. Anyone has solved this problem? I would greatly appreciate it.

I had a similar problem after the 1.28 upgrade... it seems mine was trying to load two copies of DCS at the same time. I tried the CNTRL/ALT/DEL and remove one copy, but it steadfastly refused to dump the DCS in memory. I had to re-boot the PC (leave it off for a few minutes to flush the memory). Once re-booted it loaded okay.

Thanks. But my problem is that I cannot even see DCS world in task manager. It seems that it just automatically terminates itself.

Try repairing it "Repair DCS World" in the start menu. I had similar problem in the 1.2.8 open beta but the game worked after I disabled firewall.

I'm having the same problem here since updating to 1.2.8 just now. The DCS multiplayer launcher opens OK for me (although I've still get the "connection interrupted" error anytime I try to enter a game, but that's another story). The regular launcher just briefly opens a black dos style window for a second or two and nothing further.

 

I immediately tried soft and hard restarting my pc and repairing dcs world, no luck.

 

Disabling windows firewall also doesn't solve it.

I'm about the same as lubey. I updated yesterday. I got to "fly now", push the button, and the desktop comes up. The program is running in the background somewhere, but doesn't show up on the taskbar on my I7 windows machine. Running a Nvidia 770 card with 512 SSD and 24 gb RAM. Tried rebooting several times. Uninstalled and reinstalled from 1.2.8 from the DCS website and same outcome. Finally scraped it and went back to 1.2.7. That works the same as it did.

Same as Dagger: Brief cmd screen and then back to desktop.

 

I'm now reverting to 1.2.7

Wonder what's up with 1.2.8 ???

Never had any problems with any other release version.

I can't revert back since it took almost a full day to download 1.28... im hoping it's a simple fix.

This may sound silly but are you using ZoneAlarm? I have no idea why but 1.2.8 just snoozes when I click fly with it on even though I gave DCS highest trust level.

Just finished updating to 1.28. dcs starts .. black screen then nothing.

I started DCS World, the splash screen came up, loaded in 12% of the game, sound started, then black screen and nothing, I had to turn PC off with on/off switch as it was locked solid.

I tried reinstalling on another drive, I tried both the torrent and direct download method of download, I deleted the folder in saved games but nothing.

There are two errors on my log;

This line appears to attempt to load the EDGE engine that hasn't been released to the public as of late.

Seems U have a developers program of this software, I head the tester were using it though.

Possibly just problem with the installation or the configuration files.

Especially if configuration files are carried over from a previous installation and they were not updated during installation.

 

I would suggest removing the configuration files and starting DCS to recreate them.

 

Edit:

it does not mean "EDGE" as the new rendering engine but a part of the process of rendering, for example GUI obviously means it's about main menu rendering which was not finished (black screen).

 

Also, if there are mods which add custom main menu screens remove or upgrade those since they might have the problem now (not updated to 1.2.8 correctly).

Also, that's not even the source of the problem.. My log shows same even when starting properly.
