Taproot Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) Hi Anyone know why the sun looks like this, and how I can fix this? This is a shot from a new install without mods. Compared to for example Sideshowjacks screenshot Edited May 1, 2014 by Taproot [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Flagrum Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Yeah, what IS exactly is wrong with it? To me it looks like a sun set over the sea on a hazy day?
Taproot Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Edited post 1 for a referance. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Slippery Pete Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 If you look directly at the sun in game, it shrinks and dims. If you don't look at it, it is bright and shiny. So the key is, don't look at it, and if you do, don't look at it too long, or it will 'shrink'. Why this is modeled the way it is, I don't know.
Flagrum Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Edited post 1 for a referance. :) I still don't get it ... In the first pic the sun is close to the horizon - because light travels through much more atmosphere, the sun looks not so bright. Never watched the sun set on a long summer evening - it is big and red and you can even directly look at it without ruining your eyes instantly. Is that effect perfectly replicated in DCS? Maybe not, but as I said, I wonder what you find so much being off with it?
Taproot Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Is that effect perfectly replicated in DCS? Maybe not, but as I said, I wonder what you find so much being off with it? Compared to the referance shot, my sun looks just like a circle, while the referance has more of a bloom. My sun looks circular no matter what the time is (when it's up). I just find it strange that the sun looks so different from other peoples screenshots. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ZMEY-HS- Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Anyone know why the sun looks like this, Multiscreen setup. and how I can fix this? This bug is couple years old alredy. You can do nothing with that, except spam ED tech support over and over again, and maybe one day they finaly fix it. 1
Devrim Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Yes, the sun in first picture looks like that someone resized it badly with MsPaint. As Zmey said, it's an old bug. tsumikae Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 You can try something, actually: if your HDR settings are either on warm colors or normal, set them to cold. Be warned, though, you might get blind when facing the sun :p
SkateZilla Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 In my experience, if you're in cockpit view and you look at the sun, the sun and sky will dim (like it simulates your pupils closing), and when you look away it will remain darker and then come back (pupils opening). I think I've only seen this effect in cockpit view, I dont remember seeing it when using the external camera.
