The biggest no-no with DCS World as it stands today in terms of switch over to dedicated server, is that the server must have enough GPU power to handle the game itself. Otherwise it is not possible to launch the "server".

Up to that date where ED releases a dedicated server, we're stuck with DCS World on a computer with sufficient graphical processing power to show the game and host from there.

You can run a server with 3d render off.

You can run DCS On a Server with any Integrated DX9 GPU, and just modify it to disable Rendering.

Hi,

It depends what your objective is, how many people, what kind of mission, how long it needs to run.

Upload limits are the biggest issue. DCS uses HUGE amounts of upload bandwidth (VA goes over 20gb per DAY regularly)

Regarding the machine it needs a dx9 card/chip running windows server 2012 with some tweaks. Turn render off and a few other options and away you go.

how many people. is hard to say but more than 14 people,missions are free flight and objective based,and it needs to run 24-7

Pman Do you own or rent the server you have virtual aerobatics on?

thank you

Can I ask you how much does it coast to rent the server per one year? (the one you are using)

Does the chip of an intel HD also works?

My brother only have a core I7-4770 inside his rent server. No grafics card

He didn´t get DCS world running on it.

hey guys, ive just read that it can improve performance to keep the 3d render off when hosting...how to do that?and how do you know that its working?

from what ive read it seems that you have to create a autoexec.cfg file and enter this line:

render3D = false;

and paste this file then in username/dcs/config

is this correct?how would i know that its working?

thx in advance!

Posted (edited)

Yes, that is correct. If working, the screen on the server will be black.

Edit: I think it should be graphics.options.render3d = false

ah ok will try that, cause:

render3D = false;

didnt work..it only worked when i changed it in the graphics.lua file itself...will try it now and report back!thx

EDIT: no doesnt work...
