Hi,

Maybe this is a silly question, but is there anyway to be sure that my FC3 is updated to the new F15C?

I haven't played FC3 in a little while, but the F15 seems similar to what it used to be before it updated.

So, is there an easy way to be absolutely sure the update has grabbed the new aircraft models and functionalities? Is there something specific that I can engage or enable to be sure?

Also, is there a manual for the new version anywhere?

Cheers,

Joe

If your DCS World version says "1.2.8" then you have the new PFM for the F-15.

If you don't trust the version number shown at the DCS main menu, run a DCS Repair - if there is anything wrong with your installation, that will take care of it.

If you cant turn when taxiing you have the new version with PFM. If you press and hold down "S" the F-15C PFM will activate Nose Wheel Steering (NWS) when you taxi. There are of course many other ways to see the difference.

If, before engine startup, the intakes are risen, and when you start each engine you are met with the JFS whine before each engine spools causing the intakes to drop down in turn, then you know you've got the new F-15C. Also like HiJack said, the turning circle should be shocking unless you hold down the manoeuvre key (S). Aside from that, bitch betty should hardly go off except for failures, the pull up and over-G tones are now a softer beep that sounds like morse code.

Mil and Max power should peak at 96 rpm on the gauges. These are the main visual indicators that you have the new flight model I guess. Apart from these, you can tell a huge difference in the handling characteristics if you know what you're looking for. If you're running version 1.2.8, then there's no reason you shouldn't have the new model.

Many thanks to Flagrum, HiJack, and GC1993 for the many good ways to verify!

I tried the steering earlier, and just mapped the dual rate onto my HOTAS so it steers better than my car now!

EDIT: It can also be tipped over way-easier than my car. I think the C/G is a bit higher.

If you're on fire after landing... you have the new one. :music_whistling:

Yeah. If 1.2.8 updated correctly, this is what your F-15 should look like after your first landing attempt:

Shucks, I must have the old one still. Only left one small fragment of airplane on the runway. (not sure what part, though, should buff-out for sure!) ;-D

New F-15C

Glad I read this post. I have spent a lot of time stuck off the runway while taxiing. I've also been able to do that runway flip after touchdown.
