Are we going to have performance charts in the DCS Mig21 flight manual? Charts regarding the take off and landing distances, climb performance, rate of turn, etc.

Posted

No.

We have no time to create more complex telemetry tools for data extraction (we have it for the real time tests).

Original charts could be used for some references.

Note that all simulated aircraft deviate more or less from the real aircraft, it is normal and can't be avoided. I really tried to diminish the differences, but I had to compromise also.

To add to this: I believe you e-mailed us through our site a few days back.

I did respond to you saying we had the charts and and data in the manual; but I was made a mistake. Novak (Dolphin) is of course correct. :)

Could we use real charts data as a reasonable reference for the simulator?

Or the differences are to much to use it as accurated data?

Some people in virtual squads are trying to fly as close as the real thing and perfomance charts are invaluable data. Maybe after release LS could share with us some useful charts from simulator perfomance.

This would help us a lot.

Dolphin just answered that question not two posts ago. They will work as a reference in some circumstances, but expect deviations as happen with programmed simulations.

I understand what Dolphin had said. I´m not asking for accuracy, i´m asking if real Bis perfomance charts are well suited to do the job taking in count the difference bewtween real and simulated model. Or if LS could consider in the future to release charts belonging to his modeled Bis with data extracted from the simulated model.

I'd bet real charts would be close enough for our purposes as simulator pilots. And worst case, if you come across numbers in the chart that aren't accurate, you could record the sim's performance and write your own. :)

Yes.

Differences are not significant. However, few things should be clear concerning the available (real) charts:

1. Some data are obsolete, never corrected/updated, and many are not publicly available.

2. Principle when it comes to data presentation is to always present data with great safety margin, mostly for average flying technique and average pilot. I believe this is the case for most aircraft, it surely is for all that I was/am flying.

... Maybe after release LS could share with us some useful charts from simulator perfomance.

Possible, no promises. Im not sure we will focus on that after release, we will have lot of things to do mostly of administrative nature (e.g. backers, huge job) and user support in sense of additional features and bugfixing. But players can have a lot of fun researching and creating their own data-tables and charts, comparing them, testing... That is interesting aspect of gaming, at the end. Not everything need to be a fight.

Thanks Dolphin. Really appreciated your answers.

In our virtual squad we have made some perfomance charts for the Dcs Su-25, so doing the same for the Fishbed could be an exiciting challenge.
