Money is a very important factor in FS Development.

It allows you to expand your team, hire contractors for artwork, license middleware; but more importantly: not freak out when your next rent is due.

However, it is not everything. Project management skills, knowledge of the DCS engine, knowledge of the aircraft and its' systems is not quite something that money will immediately facilitate.

Additionally, kickstarters are seen as a less professional option for established companies (some silly stigma attached), which can also be a drawback.

So to really answer your question?

There are pros and cons, and it's not an end-all solution.

It's a good one a lot of the time, but has to be planned properly, with clearly defined goals and rewards but with realistic expectations.

Well that's just about sums it up in clear concise manner so i guess, humor aside, IT IS the best answer.

Can I just make a point here, why gamerbwoi made about 3 threads that are the same and trying to fight the DCS Dev World on his own. Why still stir the topic when you have already been given an answer ? I understand some might want to get the modules rather fast but it just ain't going to happen. Be patient, is all I can say to you. Harrier won't be out any faster if you start questioning how Razbam manages their team, money and time.

First off, Kickstarter isn't the Golden Answer everyone thinks it is.

"We need a kickstarter for this, we need a kickstarter for that..."

Not everything is going to get a great response, if any, on KickStarter...

It's not a Guaranteed Funding Option.

You cant make a Kickstarter with a $150K Goal and assume you're going to meet that goal.

Kickstarter is prolly a good option for Studios that are small / just starting out.

As Cobra said, to cover your expenses.

Most Established Studios like RAZBAM, Iris, [Other Studios that work on FSX/P3D],

Already have most of the software licensed, and already have most of the staff on payroll,

The Issue isnt money, it's Time Line, Studios Developing for FSX/P3D aren't gonna drop any projects that are already in progress to start a new one for a simulator that they haven't developed for yet.

For those Studios, Sales from their FSX/P3D Projects is their funding for future projects.

So Finishing those Projects and Continuing to work on them is a Priority, Not to Even Mention ManHours : Completed Project Ratio.

Being already Fluent in FSX/P3D, Studios can pump out Products for that Platform quicker.

KickStarter/IndieGoGo/CrowdFunding is a not a 100% Answer for every studio. it has Pros and Cons.

They have comments set to "Private" meaning only contributors can see them.

I don't get why there are so many Kickstarters for DCS planes that are modern like the AC-130 or the F-35. I would think that they would never work, as too much of the information required to make them is classified.

DCS: F-4E really needs to be a thing!!!!!!

I wouldn't exactly call the AC-130 modern. They have been around longer than the A-10.

I would still think that there is still some highly classified materials on it, or incorporated into the avionics.
