uboats Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 (edited) After 1.2.8 released, I found that I always did heavy touches during landing for even more than 160 knots speed. Payload: 3 fuel tank and 2 aim9c 2 aim120c Track is attached. I found there is a nav WP distance error in ILSN. neglect it. Even I pull stick to reduce descent velocity. I felt the plane kept on descending even w/ 160 knots. Jumped twice after touching the ground. Could anyone point out where I did wrong during landing?f15landing.trk Edited May 27, 2014 by uboats [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My DCS Mods, Skins, Utilities and Scripts | Windows 10 | i7-4790K | GTX 980Ti Hybrid | 32GB RAM | 3TB SSD | | TM Warthog Stick | CH Pro Throttle + Pro Pedal | TIR5 Pro | TM MFD Cougar | Gun Camera: PrtScn |
dumgrunt Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 you are going to slow, with that payload you are more looking at 200 kts. watch your vertical speed indicator, should be less than 500ft/min on final. dont worry, i spudded her into the deck or busted the landing gear a few times with the new model. 159th_Viper Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Could anyone point out where I did wrong during landing? 1 - Descent rate too high. 2 - You are much too heavy: Should not be landing with that weight - jettison stores, the taxpayer will pay. Just watch out for cows etc etc - farmers get irritated when they have to excise sidewinders and the like from their prize bulls. I want to maintain a lower one, but even i pull stick, aoa went 22+, it still descent. I thought 160 knot is ok for that weight. In reality, all fuel tanks should be jettison before landing? 159th_Viper Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 In reality, all fuel tanks should be jettison before landing? Truth be told, I have absolutely no idea. In-SIM however do all you can to get your weight down to below 36000 at least. Do yourself a favour and fly the exact mission you have there (very pretty I might add) with a third internal fuel only and see the difference in your landing. So for my current weight, what s the proper landing speed? BTW, there is no ILS at Sukhumi? I remembered there is for Su-27. And, although I set the WP, F15 ADI does not show my alt corresponding to the set alt of the WP but only the course. Is this correct? I don't think there is a safe landing speed - you're way too heavy, especially for such a small runway such as Gaduata. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Phantom_Mark Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Slightly OT: but what happens when a planes has to dump munitions for an emergency landing ?? in the real world I wonder, is there provision for GPS fixing and alerting the authorities on the ground ASAP etc ?? I mean this from the POV of training over your own territory for example on a live fire mission at the ranges etc? ?
streakeagle Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 At stall speeds, you don't control rate of descent with pitch, you control speed with pitch and use the throttle to control rate of descent. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Chief1942 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 This!^ I know how difficult it is to NOT pull back on the stick, but you should be adding throttle to flatten out your descent, not adding to pitch.
