Mike Busutil Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Can the "specularity" be adjusted for the A-10C? I have found a few tutorials for this but they all reference the P-51. Thanks for any info. SkateZilla Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 It should, just don't expect a polished metal A-10C. :) Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Mike Busutil Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 Looking to do the opposite... Any info on where to find the correct files to edit? The A-10C file layout is different than the P-51D tutorials. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Checkout my user files here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/user-is-Mike Busutil/apply/
SkateZilla Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) check one of the livery description LUAs, and it should have any specular files listed. I'm in office so I cant confirm if there's Spec maps... But I dont remember seeing them in the skins I've looked at. if the Material Slot was set in Max, you'd only have to make one and set the Livery File to load it. joey45 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 You'll have to make one. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Mike Busutil Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 If I look here: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\World\textures\A-10.zip I see a few files with the name "a-10c_spec_1-a.bmp.dds" Are these the specularity files I am looking for? joey45 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) yes. But it's probably best to make your own maps. example of the .lua {"A-10C_PAINT_1-a", 0 ,"A-10C_41sqn_1-a",false}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-a", 2 ,"a-10c_41-sqn-a_SPEC",false}; Edited June 6, 2014 by joey45 The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. For your Livery You'll have to make one for each diffuse texture, you can use the stock ones, but its better to make your own. then add the line for each texture in the livery file. so, something like: {"A-10C_PAINT_1-a", 0 ,"A-10C_MBUS_1A",true}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-a", 2 ,"A-10C_MBUS_Spec_1A",true}; etc etc for each material. Mike Busutil Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 In this example, what does the 0 and 2 reference? {"A-10C_PAINT_1-a", 0 ,"A-10C_41sqn_1-a",false}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-a", 2 ,"a-10c_41-sqn-a_SPEC",false}; [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Checkout my user files here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/user-is-Mike Busutil/apply/

Mike Busutil Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) What technique is best used to change the level of Specularity? I am using Photoshop for the file edits but am not seeing much change (If any at all) Is there a particular value or setting I should be using? I am looking for a dull flat look, no shine. Thanks for any help. Edit: found this from Rudel. When you look at the OEM SPEC *.dds files of the P-51D 'Bare Metal' skin, you notice the files use greenish and magneta colors to distinguish from flat & matte, to reflections. From a beginners stand-point, "The greener it is, the more matte it is; The more magneta it is, the shinier & more reflective it is.
