Can you guys talk about aircraft without pulling each others hair??

How likely do you think that is?

For me it's going to be the 190D. I'm not really convinced of the 109 yet. I'm sure that will change when it comes out but I don't like the low cockpit visibility.

The 109 G-10 and onwards has excellent rear visibility thanks to the Galland/Erla clear-view canopy.

It's the nature of WWII Planes, last war with men vs. men.

No Radar guided missiles or something similar like this.

the best tactic with 100HP more power will win the dogfight.

Wait of introduction of the 190, the good old threads with OP German Ammo and to fast diving Mustangs will appear again :)

Once you have tasted Flight, you will forever walk the Earth with your Eyes turned Skyward.

Still not as good as the Fw which had excellent rearward vision from the beginning.

Isegrim, you forgot Opel (GM) and Ford Germany.:)

Rearward visibility is a myth of computer flight simulators. When you are strapped into an aircraft your rearward view is terrible, even with the best canopy imaginable.

So what a waste all those bubble canopies are then.

No what we really have to worry about is if the bubble canopy's existed. I hear they might have all just been put in storage....:music_whistling:

USA 11,045,902 vehicles produced, 6.9% increase

Germany 5,718,822 vehicles produced, 1.2% increase

The USA motor industry is doing quite well.

Anyways back on OT. There is nothing wrong with the 109 except it is FORD (fix or replace daily) Fw was somewhat better in that regard.

How about First on Race Day(Ford) :P :P

And the 190 takes the lead! :yay:

FW-190 was the first fighter with HOTAS design and quite comfortable cockpit and it looks sooo nice. So its the Dora for me!

When I had a chance to sit in the F-16 cockpit (only the cockpit, the rest of the aircraft was missing!), I made it a point to look behind myself. I especially wanted to compare the view to Falcon BMS. Even without a helmet, I could hardly see a thing to the rear and it was very uncomfortable to look. I am not a large fellow so I was not cramped in the cockpit in any way.

Similar story in my recent flight in an Extra 300. It has a beautiful bubble canopy, but the biggest limitation on my rearward visibility was my own neck. If I wanted to loosen my straps, lean forward and turn around, yes, I could do it, but what use would that be during ACM?

We all want these simulators to be as realistic as possible. Based on my experience, trackir and computer flight sims are extremely generous in the range of movement they allow for checking 6. So, 190 or 109 for rearward visibility? It is a moot question because in either you are not twisting your head and torso to check 6 while pulling gs the way we do in DCS and other sims.

In what manner? I'm not very good at details about WW2 planes.
