Got mine DGX today, well sound clearly has more details now. I will keep it for a while.

Nice upgrade from ALC 887.

PS. Boberro please, I was waving my hand and I couldn't get why that damn fly is not trying to escape.

Ive got a task for you. Go to Windows sound properties and fire up the bell test sound, loud, on headphones. Now repeat the same on Realtek. Any comments?

Much louder

Higher quality headphones are next on my list.

Any suggestions ? Price range ~50-70$ (albo do 250zł bo polskie ceny)

Additional preferences, can't be too tight. I'm wearing glasses.

Current: SHP2700

BTW. Most of my music sounds like crap, I guess I need to get some higher quality ones.

On my system the test sound plays with distortions.

As for the headphones, please search for the headphone thread I've started. Not much there though. Just my opinion on particular Senheiser vs Creative Aurvana. Start a new thread if you focus on different price range than I did.

In RealTek's case, it's not just the low spec chips, it's the crappily compiled clutter mess that is their drivers too.

I use an RME Multiface II, but I just wanted to mention Beyer Dynamic DT990Pro headphones.

Sound is so subjective and so I can't come up with all the buzz words like warm and rich to describe them

But you won't be dissapointed by them

They are really very comfortable on, too.

Just a recommendation for you! :)

Expensive, though. I bought mine around 2008, still great and well worth it, just replaced the earpads:

They're like new again.

RME produce some pretty nice midrange converters for sure, atm I have a firewire focusrite saffire pro 40.

Only problem is I use it with my mac (the firewire), I need to see about getting a card for my PC. I havn't heard good things tho about the windows compatible FW800 cards.

I always wanted to use TS with a ribbon mic :p

p.s. Some complete B****** stole my nice AKG headphones from my student house last year (thought it was someone up cooking steaks at 4am or something, that happened frequently) now I am stuck with a USB Turtlebeach headset (the cheapest ones) for my PC and the noisefloor is killing me.

I've got some Dynaudio monitors but again, no firewire link with PC atm. Something else for the 'to buy' list I guess!

Frosty where abouts are you?

Can't promise anytbhing but I had a Siig Firewire 400 card that I once used with an Onyx400F by Mackie.

If I can find it and you're willing to pay postage I'll send you one for free..

I'll need to have a good rummage around the house though as it's been a good 2 or 3 years since using it.

Excellent card, though. Texas Instruments chipset and worked with my Onyx perfectly.
