hey guys, just bought the f86 and noticed immediately, that its zoomed out way too much for my taste...so i wanted to adjust the server.lua file to get a proper FOV....but it seems there is no section for the F86 yet....?any clue where to adjust the FOV then?

thx

Yes same the zoom are horrendous on DCS you should be able to fix this there

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\F-86

Each aircraft should have specific lines and space for the detailed Views. I do add it manually but it should be by default.

NOT something like ViewSettings["Su-33"] = ViewSettings["Su-27"] This is plain ridiculous.

Each aircraft should have like the F-86 in details..

Can't you just hold the numpad * key for like 1 second? It makes the FOV closer and seems a lot easier than doing all of the above.

no real solution for me...i dont like to zoom in and out, never do that for any aircraft.instead i prefer to use a certain amount of FOV at all times.and preferably the same for all my aircraft...its no problem at all to do that with other aircraft like A10c or P51...just adjusting one number in one file thats it...a matter of a few seconds.

but here in the F-86 there is something wrong.or we are just looking at the wrong file.but i cant seem to find the file which is responsible for it.

please anybody can help?

i hope there is an answer or fix soon....for now, this really stops me from flying it...cant believe im saying that tbh...

So why ignore the relatively simple 'workaround' that takes a millisecond? Just tap the Numpad* button and you're good to go for the entire mission.

....it doesnt set it to my desired FOV.so not ignoring, but thats just no fix for my issue.

Just keep in mind the automatic seat height adjustment for take-offs and landings, amongst others, if you are trying to set your FOV on the RW.

Well this is no fix at all.

I use one key to zoom in completely, which is 30° in my case, one key for zoom out completely, which is 90° and the default zoom key lies exactly in between, so it should be 60°, but right now it's 20 - 80 -140.

I keep switching between 3 angles, so a fix is definately needed.

I tried to add "F-86" and "F-86F" entires both in the User folder and the DCS folder Config\View\Server.lua as well as in the View.lua that is located in the F-86 Mod folder, nothing works.

All we can do now is report it as a bug, and wait for the problem to be resolved. It is an open beta for a reason. It is still better than waiting for the final release, wouldn't you agree?

Yes I did try to add it everywhere as well and it's a no go if it wasn't added to the code yet but this should be one of the first thing to fix. Flying around with this F-86 is a total pleasue so just this to fix the FOV and it will be great ! :)

Well I change name to SnapViews["F-86F-35"] = {

[1] = {-- player slot 1

[1] = {"""""""""

"""" etc.

My default is good now .. to reset my view I snap to my normal view and my FOV is good but if I zoom out it's still too much out but not as bad so humm lets see more .. Snapviews added the line of F-86F-35 as well ..

Hi,

I have the same problem, it is too far back.

I have an additional question. In the complete start up video the cockpit camera zooms in and moves behind the stick.

How can i do that? (i have a track IR but it is fine if i can do that with the keyboard). Tried moving the camera down but she doesn't move enough.

Thanks!

map it to a button or a hat switch in View and cockpit view zoom in and out or normal view in the controls settings. the normal view is the main view at the moment.. normally i set one zoom out max FOV locked to 95 for example that way my max zoom out will be 95.. normal view ( snapviews #13 will be a bit close for gauges reading at 80 or 85 )

Sorry for going a bit off topic, but are you saying that it is possible to assign additional FOVs to different keys (keyboard or joystick) besides the one that is standard zoom? I have been trying to figure out how to do it but never really found the way.

Is it possible to set ie 30deg-60-90 deg of FOV to 3 different keys?

I too dislike how the zoom function works, and had to manipulate a bit the zoom speed in order to get it functional for my way of flying, but still i would prefer an instant switch between different FOVs with buttons.

thanks
