tromac2010 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) UPDATED 8 October 2015 : Corrected issue with the SPEC layer, now looks great in DCS World 1.5 In November 1944, 3 Squadron RAAF became the first Royal Australian Air Force unit to use Mustangs. At the time of its conversion from the P-40 to the Mustang the squadron was based in Italy with the RAF's First Tactical Air Force. CV-A KH676: Served with 3 Sqn under RAF Control 23/4/45 - 6/8/45. CV-A. Pilot: F/Lt A. "Dusty" Lane CV-P KH677: This particular aircraft served with 3 Sqn under RAF Control 26/11/44 - 11/4/45. Flown by Squadron Leader Murray Percival Nash. CV-W KH755: Served with 3 Sqn under RAF Control 9/3/45 - 29/4/45. CV-W named 'Anita'. Personal aircraft of P/Off Lew Ranger. I have completely reworked the skin to be historically accurate. Lower fuselage is light grey (ANA 602) Upper fuselage is Olive Drab (ANA 613) and Sea Grey (ANA 603) 3 Squadron Website: http://www.3squadron.org.au/index.htm Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No._3_Squadron_RAAF Serial number reference: http://www.adf-serials.com.au/2a68d.htm Edited October 8, 2015 by tromac2010 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Kuky Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 that's a very nice camo on the Mustang, but I think you need to work on it little more and get the paint scheme pattern to align properly... it'll look better :) PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
tromac2010 Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 Cheers guys. I've continued to work on tidying it up since I posted these. Fixed the alignment of some of the pattern, corrected the Southern Cross on the tail so it's not cut off on one of the stars, corrected the text alignment and serial number. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
IvanK Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Operta Aperta :) I think the Squadron codes are a little to small.... great job though
Screamadelica Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Great work. Lovely skin for the Pony. The Southern Cross on the tail looks very nice. Look forward to trying it out.

tromac2010 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Completely revamped to be more historically accurate. I've also added two more aircraft skins to the pack. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
tromac2010 Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 Updated to correct an issue. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Paringa Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Very nice, but if you really want to be historically correct, Murray Nash's Mustang CV-P serial KH677 only had one aerial on the rear deck, it did not have the wire aerial from the canopy to the fin, the spinner was red and none of the 3 squadron mustangs in Italy were fitted with exhaust shrouds. The reason for this was that the shrouds were removed by the maintenance engineers for ease of access - they were not necessary to streamline airflow and reduce drag as the aircraft were mainly involved in ground attack missions where speed was not a high priority. You may also be interested to learn that KH677 was the very first Mustang IV (P-51 K) to join 3 squadron, and on its very first mission (The bombing of Bjelovar rail yards, Yugoslavia) on 02/12/1944, squadron Leader Murray Nash was awarded the DSO for his part in that action. Keep up the good work.
Art-J Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Keep in mind we cannot alter the 3D models of the aircraft in this sim, so of all issues noted above, only the spinner colour can be dealt with. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
