Hi all

I am just wondering if the f86 is comming on steam or if we won't see any new module released on this platform ?

There is page for F-86F already on Steam, "coming soon" on 9.8. (9th of august, 8/9/2014).

"I would have written a shorter post, but I did not have the time."

why bother having the steam version? doesnt give any Benifits only the disadvantage of steam having torun in the background taking up Needed Resources so pointless with DCS other than Sales.

I change every now and then hardware/computer components and do a clean install so when DCS only gives a limited number of times to install their modules. So I wanted to be sure that I always will be able to install their products. Thats why I got the Steam versions.

Maybe its unnecessary? I dont know? Maybe you can install DCS:s versions as many time you want? I dont like that count that you only have 3 times left to install your module that you paid for.

And then I also know where I have everything :)

Wait, what ? Steam is also using Starforce for activations. Only difference is that it's doing it in silent mode.

It should also add 1 activation every 30 days.

To use only advantage steam has now (download speeds from ED got boosted) is overlay but you can add app to steam manually.

And well... faster install as you can keep steam library on different partition and install DCS in a minute or faster.

When I log on to steam I can see at a glance if any of my friends who have DCS games are playing them and join their multiplayer game by double clicking their name.

It's very easy to get multiplayer games using steam

Does anyone know if the Steam version actually works?

The reason I ask:

DCS: F-86F Sabre, all new content for Unknown app is Now Available on Steam and is 10% off!*

etc etc

Ah, my favorite game, Unknown App. I note that the DLC list in the Steam Store page for DCS World makes no mention of the Sabre (although it does have the Dora), and likewise the Store page for the Sabre itself makes no mention of DCS World. In comparison, the Store Page for the Dora has the DCS logo right below the Dora logo and there's a big purple box that says "Downloadable Content: Requires DCS World to play!"

I'm pretty sure whoever set the Sabre up checked the box marked "DLC" but forgot to mark what it's actually DLC for. So I'm going to hold off buying this until it changes. Maybe if I get it, it'll work just fine, but I'd rather wait a few extra days than get it and then spend the rest of my life locked in mortal combat with Steam's tech support.

I bought the F-86F on Steam about an hour ago and it works great, if that helps. The 'unknown app' image is a missing thumbnail of the package files I think, and doesn't impact anything about DCS World or the lovely Sabre.

EDIT: The link in the RSS is incorrect, i.e. 'app/0' and you are right that the Sabre is missing in the DLC list from the main DCS World entry. You can use this direct page link to view/buy and it works ok:
