Anybody know of some good resources?

I'm looking for information on it's service life introduction and withdrawal, when, which units and where both for the MiG-21 in general as well as for the Bis specifically.

I once read a story (in german) written by a former GDR pilot, which describes the interception of a soviet Tu-16 (a rare sight, for foreign people, even inside warsaw pact) during a training mission. But I can't find it anymore.... (It was also on this website)

Essah, I think you're asking for a bit too much (re. units, dates and whatnot). We're talking about an airplane produced in thousands and used for roughly half a century within more than 15 countries. I'm afraid one book or website won't cut it :D.

Actually, Yefim Gordon's MiG-21 book has massive lists detailing MiG-21 units and specific aircraft and their service history/life.

I'd say that's your best bet OP. :)

I was mainly thinking about Soviet use in the period of the MiG-21Bis
