4c Hajduk Veljko Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 One Frogfoot book that I read claims that Su-25T has built in “Irtysh” ECM system that will automatically control chaffs and flares dispensing. What we have in Flaming Cliffs is a MPS410, Omul ECM pods. These pods were designed to be installed on Su-25TM (Su-39). What is the deal here? GGTharos Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 The deal is that the CMS (Counter Measures Management System) is a different system than jammer pods, but all fall under the category of 'ECM' in one way or another. CMS is not implemented in FC, quite obviously. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Shepski Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I believe "Irtysh" is just the ECM component and the programmable chaff/flare system is separate. The Ka-50 has the UV-26 programmable flare defense system for example.
Force_Feedback Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 no chaff on the ka-50? good, now we'll have enough flares instead of a crapload of chaff which you can't use up in one sortie. any good reads on the ecm system? Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted March 17, 2006 Author Posted March 17, 2006 I believe "Irtysh" is just the ECM component and the programmable chaff/flare system is separate. Irtysh is referred to as the ECM system with capability to automatically dispense chaffs and flares. While MPS-410 is probably more advanced ECM system, it requires several hundred kilograms worth of pods to be carried under the wings. With advanced flight model of Flaming Cliffs that weight and drag reduces the overall performance of the Su-25T. Irtysh is also an on-board system, therefore ECM is always available. Force_Feedback Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 During the development, ED said that they didn't have enough information on the Pastel system, and thus were forced to retain the Beroza on the Su-25t. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
