I guess there are people who would like to fly tanker, but I think this being a combat simulator, we need stuff to do combat in... And combat that actually makes sense...

Sorry, I don't get this argument, we hear it a lot when people are complaining about trainers like the Tucano etc. DCS is a combat sim yes, but combat isn't simply about shooting things. A huge amount of it is logistics and training, I for one am really excited at the prospect of this side of war being playable. For me, the ability to come through the various training aircraft from the bottom up is very exciting. Having a wide range of aircraft is equally exciting for me, even as a fast jet fan mainly, I will by a wide range of aircraft. The refueler may not seem so exciting as some on the surface, but it will offer a new set of challenges for people that fancy the challenge.

The beauty of DCS and its individual modules is that you can pick and choose. If all you want is attack aircraft, you aren't forced to pay for the other stuff, but people who do want more will be happy to have the option, Win win.

Agree 100%

I too prefer flying combat missions (CAS/ strike/ SEAD/ CAP type, I mean), and in fact, not only find flying civilian aircraft boring, I find flying many combat profiles boring (15,000 AGL A-10 PGM runs? Snoooooooore. NOE any day of the week).

However, there are clearly PLENTY of people that are interested in this type of flight, as evidenced by the long-term success of the MS Flight Simulator series and X-Plane (and similar). Attracting these people to DCS can be nothing but good: they may progressively become more interested in trying their hand at the high-performance combatants, and even if they never do, their dollars help fund the development of new theaters, larger maps, better ATC/ AWACS/ GCI procedures, better weather modelling, and ultimately, your favorite combat aircaft.

Bring 'em on.

...just don't put my Strike Eagles and Sukhois on the back burner to do it :smilewink:

yes I would. even if the boom operator is AI, I still want to give him and the douche behind me a hard time taking fuel (A-10 early learning days sadist payback)... :megalol:

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

I think it would be an interesting feature as a buddy refueling system if anyone ever decides to make an F-18E or some other fighter/bomber with that ability, but I have no interest in it as a full fledged module with just a refueling aircraft. I likely wouldn't even bother with a free download of such a thing.

Of course I would… anything like that would be a huge addition to DCS. Anyone that would not welcome all aspects of Military aircraft, even civilian types needs to think outside the box.

We already got one with that ability - the Su-33.

I didn't know that the SU-33 could refuel other a/c!!

This would definitely be a first day purchase for me, with the following caveats, it would have to have the capability to deploy a basket for those a/c with a probe. I would really prefer a carrier capable a/c such as a KA-6, KA-3, AD, S-3 or any other carrier based a/c with a buddy pack. I think it would be a real hoot and would enjoy taking my turn passing gas to my squad mates.

Well yeah! But not in DCS, do we???

No but I was responding to King_Hrothgar's post:

My point was that we don't necessarily need any new fighter addition to the game for "buddy-to-buddy" refuelling, since the Su-33 has that ability IRL.
