Regards the PSU, I have some devices connected to my USB (Track IR5, Wireless LAN and phantom powered external sound card (because I'm a musician) but all of this shouldn't be significant load to the PSU. I have only one HDD and the rest is standard PC.

And a joystick/HOTAS, maybe rudders, and other USB powered controls? It won't hurt the PSU, that much. The soundcard happen to have a premic amplification?

As for EDGE: it may even give us better fps on mid class GPUs as it uses DirectX 11 which gives a better use of GPU capabilities, which are currently limited by DX9!

The usual "better graphics with EDGE requires high end GPUs" is yet nothing but a rumor... let's wait and see.

If you decide for one if the new GPUs you mentioned take the 660ti

over the 750ti... or try to get a 770 with 4GB RAM. 2GB video card is minimum with higher resolution (1080p) and when it comes to spotting something you want resolution as high as your monitor can manage!

Most private buyers can't afford to sue cheaters, so virtually no risk, other than a bad reputation :(

Sorry for Off topic but,

This is not true. Ebay seller assumes much greater risk from fraud. Worst case for buyer is some hassle with PayPal before he gets his money back . Seller on the other hand risks not getting paid for his item (get a stone in a return package) as eBay 99% will side with the buyer to not destroy the safe buying aura they created.

And as you see In OP's case the cause is a human mistake which they ready to remedy.

Soulres, I don't have 400 dollars to build new rig. The point of this little upgrade of mine was to extend my PC's life for the smallest amount of cash. I'm not aiming at full details. I would like to have 30fps at medium settings (without AA) and I think that it could be done with current components if I change GPU. I started this thread because I though that I had real GTX 650 which still should be better than my old card, but during last few days, some facts have come to light and explainded my lack of fps after upgrade.

And even if I had 400$, one thing is to buy PC in the US, and another thing is pay shippement to Croatia, and then 25% taxes + 13% custom fees.

Hi

This is all relevant stuff for me too at the moment. I was just reading up in another forum (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2306625/z97-4790k-x99-5820k-wait.html) where a guy bought a 980GTX in the hope of salvaging an old build to run DCS with Oculus (I know OP did not mention Oculus). He stuck it in and ran DCS World, this is what he found:

I also tested the flight sim DCS World which is supposed to pretty CPU heavy. And it sure is because I'm not even getting 1 more FPS with my new card. So that game really is held back by my CPU.

I did try the Auto Overclock setting to 3.6GHz in BIOS since I don't know anything about overclocking and that gave me 10 more FPS in DCS.

So if I'm going to be able play DCS World with Oculus Rift I will have to upgrade. The question is 4790K or 5820K... I'll have to think about it.

No performance gain going from a GTX580 to a GTX980, but a 1GHz overclock got him 10FPS. Sadly he doesn't mention how much RAM he has, but its still interesting. It seems to be the refrain of all modern flight sims - brute clock speed trumps all.

CAVEAT: I did speak to someone over at the Oculus forums who found that their maxfps setting within a config file had somehow got set to 50fps. We couldn't figure out how (mine is 120), but its worth checking to see what its set to if you can't push those frames up. I will have a look and see if I can find the thread :)

Here we go:

I had to edit the graphics.lua in the ED, Program Files folder and set the max frame rate to 75 (It was set to 50 by default)....

Seems to be different in Germany. And if you prefer a bank to an internet company owned money broker that makes up its own laws (aka PayPal)... I agree though eBay is risky for sellers as well!

That is if you trust PayPal with your transaction... I always ship after receiving the payment.

It seems to be a GeForce GT630 ! That matches all specs you listed, somebody sold you a different card than a GTX650... well, ebay as usual. As long as they earn some profit from the auctions, they tolerate a lot of frauds and cheaters. Most private buyers can't afford to sue cheaters, so virtually no risk, other than a bad reputation :(

I've bought about a hundred items on eBay without any unsettled issues. Contact them, solve the issue, otherwise don't complain.

Only because you don't know how the system works or don't utilize the system doesn't mean the system doesn't work.

I used http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp to calculate my current power consumption and I get some 280W (330W recommended) and when I changed to GTX 660 TI, the result was 400W (480W recommended). But that result is a little bit strange because my 9600GT needs 95W so 660 TI should be some 55W more (not 120W). I know that for 660 TI you need 450W PSU (and I have 500W), but I think that my PSU is some no-name and I'm not sure if it'ss smart to test it with that card.

What is your opinion on those two cards (750 TI vs. 660 TI)? I only play DCS.

If the site says 400 then 500 is definitely OK.

If you decide for one if the new GPUs you mentioned take the 660ti

over the 750ti... or try to get a 770 with 4GB RAM. 2GB video card is minimum with higher resolution (1080p) and when it comes to spotting something you want resolution as high as your monitor can manage!

2GB is maximum for 1080p. 4GB isn't really necessary until you hit UHD from what I've heard unless you're modding Skyrim to no end.

The cheapest 770 4GB I can see is $200 more expensive than the cheapest 770 2GB I can see and if he's on 1080p that's money down the drain.

The 770 2GB is a beast of a card though and at least MSI have inaudible cards.

If you use texture mods etc. you may want to have more than 2GB... my 770 uses up to 3.2 GB of its RAM when using highwayman eds ground textures plus some detailed mods like rangers objects... stock DCS uses up to 2.5 GB. Not saying it's a must have, but it doesn't hurt to have more than 2GB for sure.

As for ebay: my wife regularly does ebay, most buying, but also selling... in our experience ebay (germany) does nothing else than sent some emails and worst case block the account. Even then a new account pops up with same address and pretty similar name (different number), selling the same items... of course they semd out textblock emails to you as well, that you can involve a lawyer in a legal case if you wish.

Of course, the majority of people selling or buying on ebay are reliable, honest people and shops, but you have no sure way of telling the good from the bad, easily and sometimes you just get fooled, it's the risk you take... :dunno:
