Gladman Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 So, I went a bought three monitors. LG 27" (27EA63V-P) and I have to admit I wasn't really prepared cable wise. I am running a GTX 780 so I ended up with one HDMI to HDMI, the second VGA to DVI-I through an adapter and the third VGA to DVI-D through an adapter. Now, I plan on buying HDMI cables to run to the two DVI connectors but my big question is how do I get these things to color match? Will it make a big difference running all HDMI even though its through two adapters? Corrigan Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I don't think connection type matters (although are you seriously running two on an analogue port? I'd try to avoid that...), it's gonna be panel settings if they're all connected to the same graphics card. Just have the same picture on all the monitors and then fiddle with the colour settings on the monitors themselves until you're happy. Even though you have the same model monitors, there's no guarantee you'll be able to perfectly match them (they might have different panels for different batches, etc). If you can't, try not to make it drive you crazy. You can also adjust the desktop colour settings via the nvidia control panel individually, but I'd suggest you stick to only adjusting the monitors themselves at first. EDIT: I read your post again and I'm pretty sure you mean DVI rather than VGA. Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
Gladman Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 I guess I was hoping for software or something more along those lines. I've played with the setting on the monitors and its not getting there. I do mean VGA. VGA=D-Sub which is what I have. I tried fiddling with the color settings yesterday and made it worst. I tried calibrating with those grey and black lines thingy and I'm not sure I got it right. Corrigan Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Wow. Ok. For $100 I'd have come to your house and fiddled with the buttons until you got what you wanted. Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
cichlidfan Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Wow. Ok. For $100 I'd have come to your house and fiddled with the buttons until you got what you wanted. Somehow I don't think the results would be the same. ;) I love mine (Spider 3, but I have had it for a while) but I use it for my photo editing monitor. Personally, I wish I could take it into the store and use it on every monitor before I buy it. Corrigan Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 So does it use its own software to calibrate or just tell you what to do? Win10 x64 | SSDs | i5 2500K @ 4.4 GHz | 16 GB RAM | GTX 970 | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5
cichlidfan Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 So does it use its own software to calibrate or just tell you what to do? There are a couple of things you have to do but most of it is automatic. It creates a profile on your PC that contains the settings it uses. I have always assumed that it works right above the driver layer. Gladman Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Yeah, the info on the website is good but a couple youtube video's really tells the story. As for coming to my house to play with the buttons, lol, your more than welcome but you have to drink rum. The other end of this for me is that I'm just now getting into vinyl stencils and decals for RC airplanes. I need the calibration for that work anyway. Oesau Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I've got the newer one (for photography) and works like a charm and glad I went with it.
Trubshaw Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I also have three 27inch monitors. But mine are not flat against a wall, they are built into a corner so one I view direct ie 90 degrees, directly in front of me, the other two are at a 45 degree angle to give me peripheral vision. (does that make sense?) Any road up...the point I am making is that if you view them from a slightly different angle the colour saturation and brightness appear slightly different. So I compensate by playing with the monitor levels to make them appear the same. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] TrubshawRN -=SHREK 94=-
Gladman Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 Mine are also, offset from flat if you would but take a look at the pic. They are way off. Can I get them closer, yes, but with the cal device I can get them as close as possible and then adjust as needed. I do actually need it for making decals and can justify it for that but beyond that, its a toy and I want it. :) Dale i9 9900K @ 5.1Ghz - ASUS Maximus Hero XI - 32GB 4266 DDR4 RAM - ASUS RTX 2080Ti - 1 TB NVME - NZXT Kraken 62 Watercooling System - Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas (Virpil Base) - MFG Crosswind Pedals - Pimax 5K+ VFA-25 Fist Of The Fleet [sigpic]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic99190_2.gif[/sigpic] Virtual Carrier Strike Group 1 | Discord
