Several years ago I had the A-10 with a large section of wing missing, but the (formerly attached Maverick stayed in position even with the wing missing.

It seems like it shouldn't hold up, but I have seen file footage of damaged Sabre fighters that had holes several feet in diameter. The Sabre was apparently pretty good at absorbing horrendous battle damage and still making it home. So, who knows? :huh:
