My system specs:

Pentium4 3.2 with Hyperthreading Technology

1024mb (1gig.) memory RAM

ATI Radeon X800XT 256mb.

Saitek X52 flight system

SB Audigy 2 Sound card.

My question is...Would it benefit me to upgrade my RAM to 2 gigs.??

Will it improve the performance??? (performance of the game)

Personally,Im not sure if it will, but Im asking you guys so that way i dont waste the money.Im not complaining about my system,LOCK ON runs great.graphics are gorgeous.Just looking for some guidance on what to do next. All coments will be greatly appr. thanx:confused:

Ram in LockOn is always welcome. It will be more stutter free.

True, but to actually increase FPS in-game, the first thing you should do from your current position is apply more processing power.

I went from a 9700 Pro to an X800XL with minimal framerate increase (on a P4 2.8GHz). I then moved to an AMD 64 3700+ and there was a pretty impressive framerate increase.

Your graphics card can use a fair amount more CPU power ;)

Would buy a new motherboard/CPU as next upgrade - 64-bit Athlon, only way to go ;)

Sometimes gameplay benifits more from RAM than the GFX and I think this is such a case. Your better of with 2 GIGs for a fraction of the money of a lates gen graphics card. I did the move last week and will never look back (wich reminds me to change my sig, its obsolete ;) )

1GB RAM more wouldn't improve your PC performance so much as if you put more powerful CPU and GPU. First, I also wanted to put 2GB in my new PC but the guy who built it convinced me to investe more monye in more powerful processor and videocard instead of RAM.

...he probably never played LOMAC. Try it to believe.

Actualy he has played LOMAC and that's why he suggested me to buy better CPU and GPU. 1GB RAM is a cheaper and easy to made upgrade compared to change the above devices.

I just last week upgraded from 1GB to 1.5GB (1 GB and 1 512 MB stick DDR PC3200) and it made enough difference that I was able to increase my resolution from 1024x768 to 1280x1024 without penalty. The game is much smoother in general now too. It definitely helped my system.

I was pretty disappointed that I couldn't put the other 512 stick on my MB. It would not work. I even borrowed another 512 stick (bringing the total to 4) and that would not work either. Apparently my MB can only handle two memory sticks. I'll have to buy a 1GB stick for "my wife's computer" at some point and do a little swap-a-roo.

Hi Guys,

Well, I'm about to upgrade my PC from a 3.2 prescott woth 2Gb RAM and geforce 6800 ultra to...

AMD X2 4400 with 2Gb ram and Geforece 7900 GT....

I'll let you know the results...which might not be drastically different since LO uses only one core.

From my experience, more RAM is never a bad thing...and 2Gb is good enough ;)

Enjoy whatever purchase u make.

Guys, his question was

...Would it benefit me to upgrade my RAM to 2 gigs.??

We all know that with faster CPU + Better GFX you get more than with RAM, especially FPS.

To answer his question, I think we'd all agree that he would indeed benifit from more RAM, but not as much as from complete upgrade. Framerate might not go up, but stutter would be almost gone.

1 extra gig of ram is not waste of 100-150 $ if we talk about LockOn

As long as the CPU is coupled with a strong GFX, of course it will help, however that requires 3 rather expensive computer components.

Buying a new GFX wont always help if your CPU cant keep up. On the other hand RAM is only a fraction of the cost of the upgrade above and it will ALWAYS help.

Just consider this as a sugetion, Im not here to contradict anybody. :)

I have a

Radeon 9700 (9500 Pro) 128 meg.

P4 3.06ghz dual core hyperthreading

1gig ram

Would I benefit from a better card or more ram? And how much of a benefit? I've been holding off on a new video card because felt my system wouldn't benefit a lot from it.

Thanx guys !!

I was right in my assumptions, thanx for the input it was a very interesting experience to see the diference of opinions,I have no complaints as to how LOCK ON runs in my current system,so I guess I will save the money for something else like...........The new helicopter simulator thats about to come out soon:icon_supe
