Can't talk to Ground crew anymore

Hello guys!

 

I have a problem since approximalty 1week, I cannot talk to Ground Crew anymore..

When I try to talk communicate with them, my F8 key doesnt work at all.

Otherwise, my key work proprely, I can assign it in my options and it work well to change view.

It is not assigned to my TrackIR or any others softwares..

 

I can still ask for rearming with the key "." but I cannot ask for reparing :/ So that's kind of annoying..

 

I use Steam and I tried to delete and reinstall the game, but it didn't fix it..

 

If someone could help me pls..

and welcome to the forum.

 

Is this on a particular mission or multiplayer, and do you have a track file we could look at?

 

You can save track files when you exit single player, or if you are in multiplayer it will automatically save one in your saved games / dcs folder

F8 is usually keyed to a TrackIR thing (resetting or something). Do you have your selector switch corerctly set to talk to ground crew and is power applied to the radios?

F8 is not assigned on TrackIR anymore, I changed it years ago.

 

My F8 key doesnt work in single mission AND multiplayer.

I'm flying MiG-21 so there is no switch to set for talking at Ground Crew, maybe except the radio channel's switch.

This is simple, the communication menu (Rearming/Repairing/Ground Power) doesnt show up at all when I press F8.

I dont know how a track file could help you but I uploaded one on Mega cause it is too big to for an attached file (https://mega.co.nz/#!MJ9zXaQZ!SHlznNaYcTr0bWhdduFprFkjY8AfiVZh8pZ1tBtpuU0).

I broke voluntary my gear on landing in case I can talk to them.

Just had a quick look at the track, the F8 key is working for me.

 

Did you also know you can access the rearm menu via LAlt+'

eeh, try swapping the F8 bind to another key, I'm going out on a limb here but that way you can test if your F8 key is broken or not....

speedy should try, not you :D

 

the reason is simply, i dont believe that it is because of a mission file, and most likely it hasnt to do with an installed module. but to make sure he shall try another aircraft like the two free ones. if it is working with them, than it must be something with the mig install, if it isnt, well, then we can guess a bit more ;) anyway, i dont believe anyone of us can replicate it, seams to be a more "personal install / hardware" problem ;)

A silly thought... but double check you have the correct aircraft selected in the Options/ Controls drop down window before assigning/ checking

Maybe the repair mechanics quit their job and that's why they're not responding to you anymore?

@Roadrunner : So, I tried with the TF-51D, Su-25 and all FC3 aircraft. My F8 key doesnt work at all in all planes...

 

@Wolf Rider & Looney : When openning the communication menu, you use F1,F2,F3.. to choose between ATC, Wingman, AWACS and Ground Crew. You dont have to bind keys for that.

 

@Kenan : I cannot open the menu to ask for reparing/rearming/Ground Power so they can't do their job if I dont ask them.

sorry to see you are still having a issue with your F8.

 

Try this, make a copy of your input folder and place it somewhere safe as a backup.

C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input

 

then delete the input folder, start dcs up and assign your controls again, test to see if this has resolved the issue.

 

If not you still have the copied config folder as a backup to replace.

Speedy..I had the same problem...While you may think it's not TrackIR related - check again. Track IR usually "switches" to a certain profile when you launch the game, which means that very profile may still have F8 assigned to it.

 

Have you tried checking the TrackIR profile while minimizing ingame window?

@BIGNEWY : Well, I tried to delete the Input file but unfortunately it doesnt fix my problem :(

 

@Kenan : It definitely not come from my TrackIR. I checked the profile in game, and its still mine. I tested to launch DCS without TrackIR software, and same problem, my F8 key doesnt work..

 

Im about to give up.. I will try to unstall my game once again ^^

Can you attach your dxdiag to a post

 

follow these steps:

Click Start, and then click Run.

Type dxdiag, and then click OK.

once it has populated the info save as and attach to a post

dont know if you tried, but have you checked, if F8 is still set for "target view" in the options?

 

if so, can you see that view inside a mission?

 

trying to figure, if the key is not working at all, or just not for that radio item.

Nothing obvious in the DXDiag.

 

Long shot now, does DCS have administration rights?

 

right click DCS.exe >properties>compatibility>run as administrator ( tick )

 

Also are you running any mods?

and have you tried the repair function windows start menu > eagle dynamics > DCS > Repair / or if you are using steam integrity check

well, now its getting interesting i'd say....

 

please download the attached mission and enter the cockpit.

 

in the radio menu you will find "F10 others" entry.

 

after hiting F10 you can hit F8, it will show a message if the keystroke is accepted.

 

thoughts:

F-8 changes your view to target, so it IS working in the game.

 

so lets check if it is working with SOMETHING in your communications menu ;)

All right.. I redownloaded my game and checked the game integrity. As I had restart my computer right before launching the game, I had no software at all running. Surprise my key work again!

It seems that FRAPS was the problem.. But the F8 key is absolutly not assigned on it.. I dont understand and I feel stupid now xD

Anyways, Thanks a lot to you guys for your help! Much appreciated!!

Btw, thanks for the mission test Roadrunner, just to let you know that my F8 keys doesnt work in communication menu at all while FRAPS is running..
