Devrim Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Hi guys. I see your home cockpits with multi-monitor and Thrustmaster MDFs etc. I've received my MDFs a few days ago, and I have a 21" LCD monitor. How you guys place MFDs on the monitor? I want them to put on the screen, but I don't want to stick them permanently, because I use it as a second monitor in other works (video rendering or arranging music etc.). So, is there a practical way to install/uninstall them easily? Could you please share your thoughts and experiences? Thanks you in advance. Iku_CC Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 (edited) I use them like this....I can't see from small MFD picture so I decided to separate mfds from mfd picture. And these are not attached to display anyway... Cali Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I taped 2 of the corners and the corner that touches the monitor, I add a cushion so it rest on the screen. I've had it like that for a few years and haven't ran into any problems. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
cichlidfan Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I did something like Cali, but I used Velcro to attach the mfds to the monitor frame but still with a pad under the corner over the display itself. Now that I am using a touch screen that pad doesn't work so I have, for the time being, retired them. Devrim Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 :) Thank you all for your help! Glad to see these. It's good to see that you're not doing a magic. :) Because it's seen like this in cockpit pictures that took in a distance. :D Your methods have already in my mind. I thought I was thinking nonsense, but I'm now happy after see what you've done. Well, I'll apply one of these techniques. :) By the way I'm surprised Scotch® Restickable Mounting Dots can carry that weight very long time. :) *An advertisement :D Thanks again people! Much appreciated. Tone71 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Same as some here, I use 3 velcro stickers on the monitor bezel, to match 3 corners of the MFD frame, and a sticky pad on the fourth corner that rests on the monitor screen. The velcro option is handy when switching between the A-10C and Ka-50, as MFDs can easily be removed (I use helios profiles for both aircraft). shaz56 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Before I used Helios on a touch screen I attached my MFCD's with a small blob of Blue tac on each corner, clean and simple.
Reksi-Erkki Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 I have a piece of plexiglass on top of the LCD - it fits snugly inside the bezel. The MFDs are attached with 2-sided tape. It used to be glass until the cat decided she didn't like it that much... got a little shard in my foot several months after the little incident :( Dear Shilka. I hate you so very very much. Love, Rex
Phantom_Mark Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Or you could simply overlay the screen with a very thin piece of MDF and cut out the panel holes, then place your MFD on top of the MDF instead :)
