I know they werent standard issue, but I would still like to collect data and submit this as a possible future feature. DOes anyone have any good drawings or images of the ones that would have been loaded to the K-4 (even if the pictures are not the K-4)

I have some info so far, but just testing the waters to see if anyone else has any goodies.

Thanks in advance.

Did they have the same gondola's on the FW A or F versions? I may have drawings and other details in one of my books if they did.

I thought so, but I am not 100% sure, if you have them handy, post them up and we can see if they are useful, if more comfortable you can PM them to me :)

Well it doesen't have any K features, like wider wheels, wheel covers, streamlined cowlings with chin bulges, larger oil coller etc.

Every Bf109 with GM1 or MW50 couldn't use MG151 as wing cannons, because the oxygen tank was moved from the fuselage to the wing.

So there is no photo of Bf109G-14, G-10 or K-4 with wing cannons. Simple fact.

The R6 Rüstsatz isn't meant to be always the same on all Bf109 variants.

Bf109G-6/R6 - wing cannons

Bf109G-10/R6 - bad weather equipment, like Patin Kurssteuerung etc.

Page 106 has the version I've seen on most of the mid war FW190s except they are twin cannons or single Mk103 cannons. It appears there was 2 barrel lengths for the MK108 cannon but I don't know how or if that changes other things like accuracy or range.

No Beule blisters on the connecting piece, but expading, caps on wing.

What options are there?

@Flaying-Kane , as you can read on depict text: "Note the letter "D" on the engine block indicating a DB605 D". Only G-10 and K4 fitted D series. It s not enough proof?.

The Bf-109G10, G14 and K4 could all be equipped with underwing 20mm MG151 or 30mm MK.108 gunpods. I'm not sure where you heard they couldn't Flying Kane, but it was reasonably standard equipment. Other weapons they could carry were a pair of air to air rocket mortars under the wings (mutually exclusive with gunpods) and up to a 500kg bomb on a centerline rack.

Why would anyone want to hang gun pods under the wing of a 109? They sure didn't help the performance of the a/c at all.

One of the excuses hears when comapring a/c is that the 109 didn't perform as well as it should of because of the gun pods.

In his JG 26 War Diaries, Donald Caldwell wrote that in October 1944, III./JG 26 were using K-4s equipped with gun-pods. Apparently the pilots didn't like them, because they made the K-4s unwieldy at height. I'll dig out the extract.

From this : http://www.schifferbooks.com/messerschmitt-bf-109-f-g-k-series-an-illustrated-study-2154.html

Should be pretty reliable source even it contains some outdated information by now.

But like Ballenato said, theres DB605D engine so...

The caption say 'late war Bf109G'.

The MK103 was only trialed on the Fw190. It was a failure.

They did not put them with intent of dogfighting. Once USAAF air campaign began rolling, the priority target of Luftwaffe in ETO became bombers. More punch increased the chance of kill per single pass on bomber formation.
