QuiGon Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Adding infantry to a mission has nothing to do with Combined Arms. You can always do that. Just place them on the map like other units. Combined Arms just allows you to control ground units (all ground units, not just infantry) during the mission. You just place infantry like any other unit in mission editor... click on the tank icon on the left bar then pick infantry from the drop down menus on the right panel. Basically, I am trying to convince one of my friend to play flight simulation. However he is not a flight sim kind of guy. He is more into those exciting close quarter combat such as FPS games. So I might be able to convince him to play as Mi-8 or UH-1, since they do go low and dirty with the infantry. Does anyone know any missions that has intense fighting between infantry, Armors and other ground forces? Even better if you have a track or a video for it. So I can show it to my friend and he might be convince to pilot one of the chopper. Thanks in advance. Also please let me know if there are servers that kind of missions. Thanks :) Sorry to disappoint you, but infantry simulation is pretty light at the moment, and the current engine does not help at all. AI tanks spot soldiers miles away. Sure, adding infantry via scripting is nice, but there is no real infantry fighting going on.
Oggii80 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Inf I think I know the video you are you referring to - They combined footage from Battlefield (or CoD, or some FPS) for that. There is no Infantry aspect. If you want a good "Crunchy" experience, try ArmA2 or 3 (I prefer 2 since it's more contemporary). You'll never hear a real-world 11B (Infantryman) admit it, but their job is pretty basic in major ground operations with a lot of fast-moving machinery all around, and just the sheer size of the DCS world is pretty prohibitive. You can try seeing if he's into RTS games and set him up with a mission covering a small piece of terrain. TBH, I'm not sure if you can mount/dismount crunchies from Bradley's, Strykers, or other IFV's.
