Joghurt Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Sometimes I get a carrier sound out of a radio (that slight hiss) and I would be able to suppress that using the squelch, but I don't know from which radio it comes. How do I know which radio something comes from?
Boltz Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Try turning down the volume of each radio on the intercom panel and you should be able to hear which one changes the hissing noise. That is the radio picking up the signal. Boltz A-10C Cockpit Build Thread My YouTube Channel
Joghurt Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 How do the real life pilots do that? Anyone here?
baltic_dragon Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 AFAIK, they get it in different channels in headphones, so for instance FM in left, AM in right, UHF in both. At least that is what I heard. For more information, please visit my website. If you want to reach me with a bug report, feedback or a question, it is best to do this via my Discord channel. No they do not, it is a potential future TCTO but right now all radios come through both speakers. I'll have to check suite 8 to see if it's something that was or is going to be incorporated. v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website
baltic_dragon Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I stand corrected. It seems they could use the little Aries window somewhere in the pit ;) For more information, please visit my website. Joghurt Posted January 12, 2015 Author Posted January 12, 2015 So they really really have to check every readio's squelch or volume to see which one is the culprit? No indicator of any kind? If yes, then: I, for my share, wouldn't buy a device that behaves like that.
StrongHarm Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I personally set the volumes differently for each radio. I'm working on a LFX mission right now that has voice acting from multiple radio sources, and that method came in handy during testing. I'd really like to see ED put radio coms through the Communications Channel in windows, then all other sounds through the Default Channel. I put an enhancement request in long ago for that.. maybe they'll do it with 2.0. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
