Ubuntu Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 In about 20 minutes I am going to make this decision, but I want the input of the community to decide. Should I wait for the VEAO T1A Hawk, or buy the Huey now?
Nooch Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Huey is more fun in my opinion. You have a whole campaign plus you can fire as a door gunner, lift cargos etc. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
golani79 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Wait? What for? Hawk is already available. btw are both modules worth their price and can´t be compared - helo and fixed wing. So better get your priorities straight or buy both .. >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<
Ubuntu Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 My bad @golani79. I use Steam for my games.
VincentLaw Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I have not flown the Hawk yet, so I can't really speak for it, but I would wait on the Hawk until it gets updated with an EFM. For now it still has an SFM so the flight model will feel like something from Lock-On. The Huey is currently my favorite helicopter in DCS. The systems are relatively simple compared to the A-10C so I can focus more on enjoying it and less on remembering how everything works. The Huey is only effective in combat against soft targets. With AI controlled door gunners on each side, you can rain destruction on enemy infantry and trucks. You can also take out some of the lighter armored vehicles, but it is almost impossible to take out a T-55, so don't even bother with tanks. The Huey is very vulnerable against anti aircraft. You have flares but no laser or missile warning system so it is best to avoid anywhere with known air defense. The Huey also has the nice option in the loadout screen of removing weapon pylons, which gives a more civil aviation experience. I like to fly around in the included NASA paint scheme like this. golani79 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 In this case I suggest to get the Huey - it´s a great module to fly. If you wanna fly the Hawk you can still get it later. Or you switch to the non Steam version of DCS ;) >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<

Yeah, but it gets the EFM - and it already feels pretty good in flight - even with SFM. >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<
Nevyn Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Ubuntu eh OP???? The linux meaning or the african meaning boet? The huey is awesome I must say, take a free flight put on some Hendricks and its like being in Nam, hehehehe. Cibit Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I am waiting for the Hawk to be released with all the flight models finished. The huey on the other hand is almost complete, still some bugs from ED's side AFAIK but it is a very nice module and a great helicopter to fly, nice campaign some nice single player missions and the doorgunners are lethal with miniguns fitted:music_whistling: i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
msalama Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 almost complete, still some bugs from ED's side AFAIK A great chopper indeed, but it still lacks a mech thermal / friction damage model. Maybe someday :music_whistling: The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
bigian Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I have both, haven't flown the Huey this year, fly circuits in the hawk every time I open DCS then go for a flight in the hog. Can't wait to see what advanced flight model is like in the hawk
