chrno120 Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 proves that no aircraft are unbeatable in today's skies ;) yes, and those are new f-22 pilots :pilotfly: The most stupid member in the forum
Guest IguanaKing Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Yup...as Hitman said...its already been posted.
Tovan Posted April 22, 2006 Author Posted April 22, 2006 This was posted last week with heated debate... oupss.. sorry to have missed that debate. Wasn't there last week. Guest IguanaKing Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 No problem, dude. Although it isn't conclusive proof of a kill shot, it does show what can happen if a Raptor pilot gives up his greatest advantage. As others in the earlier debate pointed out though, loss of SA and tactical advantage like this would be very unlikely in a real-world scenario. ;)

But the Raptor would have the edge in the RCS and Stealth environment that will give her the initial capability for the first kill engagment. Guest IguanaKing Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Totally agree. Close and slow is not a fight you want to pick with a Hornet. That's where it does its best work. Not sure if the Super Bugs all have AESA radar though. BVR against a Raptor, well, that's one dead bug, sorry to say.
upyr1 Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 aslo shows Papy was right I'd rather be lucky than good.

Pilotasso Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Actualy they do not as of date. APG-70 AESA is till under tests and initial integration on production aircraft. The superbugs in service still have a Mechanical array version of that radar, but make no mistake about it, its still very potent and will outdetect most other radars out there. .
Cobra360 Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 They don't all yet have the '79. Only the latest Block II deliveries have AESA installed. The early Superhornets still use the '73. There are current issues with the'79 AESA that are still being sorted out. IIRC only Block II and above Superhornets can be fitted with the '79 because of new structeral changes need to accomadated the AESA and it's cooling system.
tflash Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 In fact, there is plenty of time because as well the original APG-65 as the APG-73 are truly excellent radars that are more than sufficient today. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
