it works and is the by far best looking ground texture out there.

 

after install by JSGME go to mission planer and select fall season (or for better Vietnam feeling select "Autum Rainy day" as weather preset

No, it will only work with 1.5 because it uses the caucasus map

Go to post number 1 and download the base file via the link immediately under image number 4

 

Then scroll down to image number 8 and download the update file

 

extract the base file to a folder of your choice.

 

extract the update file and overwrite the files in the base file folder

 

I would advise you to deploy this mod in conjunction with JSGME

 

In DCS, go into quick mission and select 'Fall Season'

In the folder with DCS. Put a shortcut on your desktop. Name the jsgme mods folder 'JSGME MODS'. Because dcs already has a folder named Mods.

 

Also, disable mods before updating the game.

According to the instructions supplied with JSGME, you can install it wherever you like although some people will advise you to install it into the game folder.

 

I installed straight onto my C: drive and, like Snacko says, created a desktop shortcut.

 

Also worth mentioning:

 

1. go into properties of the desktop shortcut and click 'run as administrator'

2. make sure you point the desktop shortcut to your DCS folder (again, instructions are in a text file supplied with JSGME).

<edit> yep works fine it seems so far. To clarify:

In your JSGME folder for this mod locate the folder Mods, create a folder within it called terrains. Within folder terrains create a folder CaucasusBase

Go to the Bazar\Terrain folder, locate the vfstextures folder and move it and it's contents to Mods\terrains\CaucasusBase. Then delete the folder Terrain from the Bazar folder.

I have followed the above instructions but even though i have DCS world 1.5 final,1.5 Beta and 2.1 Alpha all standalone versions with JSGME with individual desktop shortcuts when i try to load 'starways' Vietnam mod i keep getting 'Steam write error'. Any ideas ?:helpsmilie:

Hi guys. I've attempted to install via JSGME for 1.5.3 per the instructions above, but the textures in-game look the same. Question, I notice that the original vfstexturs folder has .ZIP archives. Do we need to import the replacement files into those .ZIP archives for the mod to work?

Great job Starway - after about 4 hours of struggling I finally got the mod to work (except labels are all white...never mind, I don't use them much anyway) and it looks great, top notch job mate.

 

I'd also like to thank Stonehouse, because after a LOT of struggle to get this working I managed to follow most of what he said above to the point where a little extra tweak was all I needed to sort out.

 

All that's needed now is the option to play a series of 69's era hits as we go....

The mod should work in 1.5+, but you have to rerrange the folders because now, the terrain folders changed their location to the mods/terrain folder.

 

So the only thing you have to do is locate the folder "vfstextures" in the mod folder structure, copy and paste it to your DCS main directory into: mods/terrains/caucasusbase/…

 

Don't forget to select fall in the mission editor.
