FONS Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) Hi, the last weekend i entered an mp server with the F-86 to salute some Mig's. It was late, like 19 PM, with the last hours of sun, and the cabin glass reflections are kinda weird. I was unable to spot anything because of the glass always having a weird texture of the inside panels reflections. Also, the glass has a weird dot-ish texture that makes it look strange in low light conditions. I think i will explain it better with pictures.... As you can see, the reflections are a bit weird. I have the game on high settings, textures at ultra. Yeah the sun was coming from my 3 o'clock, and yeah i agree we should get reflection of the panels in that part of the cabin, but imho they are a bit exagerated, or at least too much opaque and white-ish... This is just my opinion and feedback, what do you guys think about this? ricktoberfest Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Had the same problem with 1.2.14. I downloaded someone's cockpit mod and just used the glass file. I haven't checked if 1.2.15 returned my glass to only semi transparent again. I couldn't see anything at certain angles
Dutchy93 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I don't mind reflections, they add to the realism. But I think this is overdoing it. Today I flew a mission with a few guys, and there were moments enough in which I lost them in the reflections. Reflections are fine, just keep it playable.

No offense to the programmers, but I agree that the reflections and dirt are a bit overdone. You can get some pretty good reflections under a bubble canopy. I've got photos (in actual aircraft) where I can see my instrument panel or kneeboard reflection clearly. Scratches can reflect light at certain angles too, but not all angles and not without direct sunlight. Canopies are also kept pretty clean, so the spotty effect is overdone IMHO. Happy flying! streakeagle Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 The canopy is useless to me outside of a 90 degree heading arc. I can't see anything. I don't have to replace the cockpit glass in any other DCS aircraft except the F-86. Why is this one aircraft being singled out to have a muddy/spotty layer that makes spotting aircraft darn near impossible unless you are pointing a certain way? The original glass was ok. For the record, it was the MiG-15bis canopy that tended to freeze/fog up at high altitude. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
fastfreddie Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Klem put a great mod zip in another thread for the F-86. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=140352 Go ahead and do a gun smoke mod also because it is pretty ridiculous also.
Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 In DCS spotting targets is extremely hard and the overdone sabre reflections makes it almost impossible for me. The mig15 reflections don't seem to be as bad. Maybe it is a communist plot to give the Mig15 pilots the advantage!

I included a modification for the gunsmoke effect within the shaders mod a while ago (toned down effect) see link in my sig below if you wish to try it out.
