I am soooo glad I didn't buy into this project when it kicked off, talk about dead in the water!,....it's been over two years since he started this project and just like his other projects it's just fizzled out.

Yes I know that it's now been taken over by DCS proper now,but I'm just glad I didn't part with any cash up front, nothing this guy has started has been fulfilled or come to any fruition. After the mess iL2 Cliffs Of Dover was left in,there was no way I was going to support his 'Kickstarter' project, and two years on it is quite obvious I made the correct decision.

Just an observation ;)

The objectives reach on the old WW2 project rescue by ED has complete near to the 25% (Fw-190D-9 and Bf-109K-4), the rest (P-40/Spitfire IX/Me-262/North France map + AI units), continue on develop on different complete level (with delays, of course). The progress has no a fizzled out with you say.

Remember the WW2 project was started due to the kickstarter. Without it there would have been no pieces for ED to pick up and less incentive for third parties to produce ww2 content.

I "lost" many promised rewards when it all went wrong but I'm not bothered. We are seeing DCS expand into the WW2 era and that was exactly what I was hoping for.

Seriously?

I still see it as a big success! This thing is happening, even if it is sooner than later. Without the Kickstarter I don't think we would have had such a lineup of aircraft and a map in progress.

No-one really believed Luthier's overly optimistic timeline. Delays are the norm with DCS, but in the end we get a product that is unparalleled.

And that cash I parted with... I'm now getting all of the planned WW2 content at a fraction of the cost. I'm soooo glad I bought into this project.

Don't forget that Luthier was responsible for Pacific Fighters too. I wouldn't say that all of his projects have fizzled out. I lost a fair bit of cash but I'm not too disappointed. This flight sim community of ours is an extremely small niche compared to the rest of the computer gaming world and yet it is probably one of the more expensive to develop - properly.

Much as i don't see the point of this thread, I would say that it was not a success - I paid into it and got nothing out (as I already had the module DCS offered me after they took over).

Anyway - it's history and all posts like this will do is stir up ill feeling by people like myself.

I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings

With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!

A am happy I pledged. Granted, I won't get all the rewards I originally pledged for, but I am happy ED took over this mess and releases stuff.

So we have done what kickstarter really means: kickstarting a development. Without that KS campaign ED would probably not develop WW2 at all, except one orphan plane or another.

The only thing I am really sad / angry about is the terrain editor Luthier promised, which will never be released it seems. :(

Mate if you get upset by what I have said, then don't cause yourself more upset by commenting on it,that's daft.

As I already stated in my opening thread, this is an 'observation',no one's intending to stir anything up here,or ask for comments.

However drawing on what people have commented on so far,and it would appear that a lot of you chaps don't mind paying out for nothing in return,if that's the case, great,it's your money, and you must spend it how you like.As for me,I couldn't be that blasé about losing that kind of money, but we're all different.
