Hi people!

1)I got a doubt about the A-10 weapons, is there any weapon in real life, that on DCS we don't have ? If yes, why ? those A-10C weapons on DCS, is that the real A-10C payload ?

2) Why on DCS we don't have others Maverick versions ?

I think there are some weapons and targeting pods we don't have in DCS but there are in RL. Remember, that DCS models Suite 3 (I think) for A-10C, and in RL they are now at 7 (Snoopy will correct that if I got it wrong). the bottom line is that what we have is A-10 from years back.

but AFAIK the weapons modelled in DCS are all being used in real operations.

As for Mavericks, I don't know, but I am quite happy with what we do have :)

Basically the only weapons missing that I can think of are laser Mavs and laser rockets. Laser rockets are very new so no surprise we don't have them. We're also missing the sniper pod and long alq-184.

Everything that is currently allowed default by DCS are correct.

And we're up to suite 8, suite 9 was canceled last I heard due to budget cuts.

So I have to ask, what makes you have "doubts?"

long alq-184

Is that a different alq-184 from the one available right now?

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Come let's eat grandpa!

Can the GBU-54 (Laser JDAM) be carried by aircraft with later suites?

I think ED did a great job of adding weapons and weapons sensors.. they included most everything, and did it with an admirable level of realism of function. I think the elephant in the room is the lethality of those weapons.

ED is VERY good at what they do, so I'm sure they know that most ordinance lethality in DCS is less than 20% of real world effect. I'm confident they have a plan to resolve the issue, I just wish I knew the when and how of it.

To encourage movement on resolving the issue, I've been compiling an analysis of DCS weapon lethality for more than a month. I've created identical missions with different target types staggered in a 10m grid (constants for analysis) and very carefully recorded the results of different weapons against different targets. The analysis is several pages long and should be done within the next few weeks, but here are some interesting results:

  • Trucks must be within 20m of a MK84 blast for kill (this is a 2000lb bomb that creates a 20m crater 4m deep)
  • Soldiers must be within 1m of 30mm HEI for a kill (the ball of 5000+ degree flame is larger than 1m).
  • An AGM-65k has 3 times more blast radius and lethality than a MK84
  • CBU-105s are 10 times more lethal to troops and light vehicles than CBU-103s

For details on how these weapons should work see http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135598

Of course you can, I didn't know if you got bad information that lead to your "doubts"

Bad information ? No Snoopy, no.. I don't have "bad informations" about the A-10, it's just a doubt in my mind..

Example: 11208760_857209407659982_78362753_n.jpg?oh=eca0a3fba9249ed3d07fa8c4c3601e03&oe=5550A59D&__gda__=1431377878_cce011f74ee677c57e73d05d92335328

As you can see here at the picture, there is one AGM-65G on station five, so, this makes me have doubts about it, I saw an A-10 picture, with CBU and Mark-82 at the same pylon.. are you understanding where I am getting to ?? Concluding.. Just doubts.. I teach my friends how to fly the A-10, so sometimes these friends ask me "Why something" "how something" I need to have the answer..

Do you understand me ?

No because that's not an AGM in the picture it's a training maverick (tgm or catm)

Yes, but we normally carry the Mavs on station 3 and 9.. and there is one Mav on station five.. Maybe the Maverick on station five is right there just to transport.. I'm pretty sure, the Mavs don't work at others stations. (i'm not sure)

This makes me have doubts

What you're seeing in the picture you posted is the Mav on the aircraft parked next to it.

lol

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

ED had to take 'artistic license' with some aspects of the sim after removing the 'black boxes' from the DOD version to prep it for our version. There are other small deltas for the sake of making the sim better.. even though it may not be on the real bird.. but the deltas are small and acceptable in my opinion.

I try to always err on the side of caution and assume that I might have bad info about the A-10. I think I have a pretty good grasp of aircraft after being in U.S. Naval Aviation, cross rating into every subsystem, and passing more than one NATOPS test.. but I never worked on the Wartog in the USAF.. so I know 'I don't know'. No shame in that. When I need confirmation, Snoopy's a pretty good guy to get it from as he is a Warthog Crew Chief. Here's hoping he never tires of my incessant questions! heheh

I agree to it. but what did I said wrong ? if you have doubts as me, you ask it for someone, and I am asking it at this forum.. and about "bad information" I don't think so that is "bad information", that's a doubt, not information I think.. so I didn't get the information from my friend, website or something, I MADE that in my mind, as I said before, the doubt.

For me "bad information" is: "Hey guys, the A-10's don't use Mavericks, it uses the Hellfire, for sure." I asked for it, I didn't say, "the A-10 is something".

You're good silentvitor all is well :) Since text is so bad at conveying emotional content it's hard to tell if people are being friendly.. so I always try to assume they are. You'll see some people in these forums that like to argue and nay-say.. but by and large it's good people. Welcome to the community.
