Hi All,

I was playing my recently added SU-27 in free flight. As it started, the view slowly panned back (As per normal) and then suddenly snapped right in? I tried pushing the virtual seat back but its still way too close. Like im zoomed in with the track ir.

All my other modules appear to run fine but not the SU-27. I also noticed that my joystick key bindings had disappeared. Would this be a case of reinstalling the module as I have no idea of how to do that. Game and Modules were brought from Steam.

Thanks in advance,

...Guy

Moving the seat won't work, because what You describe is FoV issue. The FoV is affected by zoom assignment in controls menu. For example, with my TrackIR z axis set to zoom, the default view snaps back to "close" (as You describe), but If TiR isn't working (forgot to turn it on or lost assignment), it stays panned back. Did You have zoom function assigned to your joystick? If You lost all bindings, that might be related.

There are way of customizing aircraft FoVs by editing some .lua files, but since I've never done it, You're gonna have to do some search to find more details, or wait for more answers here.

Ive just tried shutting down Track ir and all is good (As was expected really). The thing that gets me is that all other games are working fine with the TIR working as it should. I would try reinstalling the module if I knew how.

you could try changing your default cockpit view and saving it, simple instructions below.

Disable/Pause your Track-IR/Head-tracker while doing it !

"Num/ - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Back

"Num5" Cockpit Camera Move Center

"Num2 - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Down

"Num* - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Forward

"Num8 - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Up

"Num8" Turn Cockpit Camera Up

"Num2" Turn Cockpit Camera Down

"Num/" FOV- aka Zoom-in

"Num*" FOV+ aka Zoom-out

"NumEnter" Default FOV aka Zoom

Once you are satisfied , after using above key-commands,

just use following key-command to save this view as default:

"RAlt+Num0" Save current Cockpit view as default for this vehicle.

This applies to all modules.

Also check your Track IR zoom axis, the attached image is my setup at present.

Hi, and thank you. Still not working chums.

My Track IR uses the same profile for all the planes I fly so it cant be that. I tried resetting and saving the cockpit views but it still starts up as normal, slowly zooms out to correct position then suddenly flashes into 'zoomed right in'

I think the module may be bugged?

Oh man, I went into the mods directory and removed the SU-27. I thought reinstalling would work. But now I cant seem to reinstall the mod. Steam says its n there but the PC and the game says no. What have I done? I knew I should leave these things alone =:-(

I get this problem when my G940 mini stick (used for zoom) is not activated. Maybe zoom buttons not correctly calibrated/set?

Ive now tried everything. Ive reinstalled the whole thing, base game and all and its still doing it. Its like it does a 'Snap zoom' or some such thing. Does anyone have their joystick/keybinds for this bird that they could share maybe.

Go to your saved games under Users/Saved Games/DCS/Config/Input/su 27/trackir. If there is an . diff. lua file in there, delete it and restart the game. just a thought, this should not do any harm. let us know your success.

OK Thanks for that , but it didn't work. It seemed to work perfectly with the Track IR disabled but as soon as I restarted TIR it did the same thing again. Soooo, it has to be TIR related and just with SU27!

This is starting to annoy me now,

and it not working I tried going into another folder (su-25T) and I copied the TrackIR.diff file into the su-27's trackir folder and Hey presto, IT WORKS!! I don't appear to have a clickable cockpit anymore but Im sure that's going to be something straightforward. But hey, Look at me moving files and sh1t LOL.

If you're reading this and know how to get my clickable cockpit back id greatly appreciate it,

Many thanks again,

su27 has clickable cockpit? isn't this an fc3 level module?

Posted

^ Right, it is FC3 module so it doesn't have clickable pit. Luftwoller, I'm afraid You can't get back something You never had :D.

As for the zoom thing, it's not strictly Su-27 related, but it's a general feature of DCS and the way the zoom assignment works with TrackIR z-axis. No need to reinstall anything.

Your Su-25 .diff file probably didn't have zoom tied to TiR anyway and that's why it seemd to "solve" Your problem, but You probably could've got the same result just by clearing all default zoom assignments in Su-27 control options ;).

I've got this "snapping in" in all my planes, since I've set them up this way, because it's my preference, so I never gave it a second thought and I can't help You much. I seem to recall however, that some guys figured out way of editing FoV setting for each plane without numpad keys combinations (?). More searching on Your side might be necessary.

Thx Art, I was just concerned as the Su27 was the only one that did this. It zoomed in so close that it was awful. you had no cockpit peripheral vision at all. If I had cleared all the default zoom options would my TIR still have worked though?

Yes. Delete all view command assignments defined for your other game devices (other than TIR). Assign zoom command to some unused HOTAS axis if you have it. This should help.

I assume that your zoom axes was by default assigned to the some HOTAS axis which was fully extended at startup.
