td922 Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I was looking at the Logitech 3d pro and was wondering if it works well with this game. I saw a video where someone was using it in a su25 but I want to know someones opinion
Gladman Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I had one initially. Its good for the SU-25. Not enough for the Eagle really, it can be done. Nowhere near enough for the A-10C. I think if your starting with it, yeah, for the price, its good. Rudder twist is nice, throttle, and a few buttons go a long way. If I still have mine deep in my closet somewhere, you can have it for the price of shipping. Not sure where you live, that might not be viable. i9 9900K @ 5.1Ghz - ASUS Maximus Hero XI - 32GB 4266 DDR4 RAM - ASUS RTX 2080Ti - 1 TB NVME - NZXT Kraken 62 Watercooling System - Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas (Virpil Base) - MFG Crosswind Pedals - Pimax 5K+ VFA-25 Fist Of The Fleet [sigpic]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic99190_2.gif[/sigpic] Virtual Carrier Strike Group 1 | Discord
knapsak Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) I use only this stick or sticks I have had many of them(because I broke some in my modding process along the way) over the years and I have modded it by extending it for helo flight as well as pairing 2 of them as a HOTAS setup which works quiet well also for any DCS module Edited August 10, 2015 by knapsak
Weltensegler Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 the Logitech extr. pro is with 20 bucks a good stick to see if you like a simulator or game...but after that there is only one stick and you should not have any other sticks besides this one...TM warthog 4790K@4,6Ghz | EVGA Z97 Classified | 32GB @ 2400Mhz | Titan X hydro copper| SSD 850 PRO ____________________________________ Moments in DCS: --> https://www.youtube.com/user/weltensegLA --> WELD's cockpit: --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92274
Steggles Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 If you've got the budget, go straight for the TM Worthog stick and throttles. It is by far the best stick I have ever used, solid construction and havnt and any problems with mine for the 2 years I've had it. -16AGR- 16th Air Guards Regiment is always looking for pilots - http://www.16agr.com EWRS - Early Warning Radar Script Specs: Gigabyte Sniper Z5-S Intel i5-4670k 3.4GHz OC'd 3.9GHz w/ Thermaltake 120mm Water 3.0 Pro Liquid CPU Cooler 16GB RAM Gigabyte GTX 1080 TM Hotas Warthog: SN: 06976 Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals TrackIR5 with TrackClipPro & Oculus Rift 2x 28" 4k UHD Monitors (3840x2160 each) + 1280x1024
Sokol1_br Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 The 3D PRO will work OK as "entry level" joystick, if has the lowest price an/or or are the only low cost option near. But be similar price you have Tm T.16000M with contactless sensor in X and Y axis, whats can mean better lifespan than the low cost pot's used in 3D PRO.
Captain Orso Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I was looking at the Logitech 3d pro and was wondering if it works well with this game. I saw a video where someone was using it in a su25 but I want to know someones opinion You can do it--I know, because I still am--, but it's not pretty :joystick:. I may have some issues with my stick being a bit old, a couple of years at any rate. Even brand-spanking-new out of the box I found it to be a tad fidgety. But for BF3/BF4 ......... stop slappin' your heads  it's just fine. In the P-51D the first think that really bugs me is that the throttle is crap. I try to push it up carefully, but it's so small you can never get a nice even acceleration curve--I keep waiting for the engine to blow out from that. To get within 2-3 points of HG that I want you have to fiddle with it, and I certainly don't need that when I need to have my attention elsewhere. But even worse is the Z-axis grip--tail-rudder/yaw. Even with a very flat curve configured in the settings I can't use it to aim with at all. The motions to make fight adjustments are simply too small with too great of an affect for any precision at all. I can't suggest any specific sticks with a good conscience because I have no experience with any others. All my knowledge on other sticks I have from reading the forum and watching YT videos. I can say that it probably depends greatly on what you want to fly with the stick. I will say that when I finally get my Slaw Devices rudder peddles I'm also going to switch to a TM HOTAS with a long extension for flying the 'Stang. It's over-kill for the P-51D, but I eventually want to get into some of those other modules I bought on sale where the HOTAS will become very handy :D. Until then I'll live with a Christmas tree between my knees while jockeying the the Mustang and be very happy about it :P. When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. Aginor Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 TM Warthog. If you can afford it, go for it. I am using a G940, which is the only HOTAS with Force Feedback, and I like it, but you have to be able to do some work on it so it really becomes great. It has some nasty problems. I replaced some cables and I replaced the pedals that come with it. DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
Socket7 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) The Logitech Extreme 3d pro is the best cheap joystick out there. It's durable, functional, and did I mention cheap? That said, It has a dead zone, it calibrates its center point based on where the stick is positioned when plugged in, and if you get serious about DCS, it won't have enough buttons, and the twist grip rudder will become a pain in the butt. It's the perfect starting point. Once you get to the point it's insufficient and you are sure you want to spend big money on flight sim stuff, you can buy a TM warthog, or if money is an issue, an X-52 , and a set of rudder pedals. Edited August 13, 2015 by Socket7 Practice makes perfect.

ZQuickSilverZ Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I think the THRUSTMASTER T.Flight Hotas X Joystick is a better choice for an entry level stick for 2 reasons. The first reason is it actually has separate throttle and stick (it splits in two). This would make it easier to transition to a more advanced HOTAS later if the virtual pilot so chooses. Second it seems to carry a good rating. 64 percent of buyers gave it top rating on a certain popular online vendor. I think for the price the quality is very good. I need, I need, I need... -7th-Kilgore Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 3D Pro is pretty 10/10 for a joystick it's price. The only issue I think you'll have is keeping it calibrated. Besides that I have no issues with any aircraft using it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Bucic Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) 3D Pro is pretty 10/10 for a joystick it's price. The only issue I think you'll have is keeping it calibrated. Besides that I have no issues with any aircraft using it. One note. Just don't confuse it with the Wingman series http://www.freewareweb.com/cgi-bin/read.cgi?id=9.rev The whole family has the worst gimbal mechanism I've ever come across, topped with crap-pots. Seriously, stay away from it or anything that looks similar for it has the same mechanism. The only joystick worse than the Wingman series I know is the Saitek Cyborg X https://duckduckgo.com/?q=saitek+cyborg+x And again, the whole range of similarly looking sticks (including the recent MADCATZ line) most probably uses the same main components. This one for sure http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/fly5.html This bugger has about 15 degrees of play in one of the axis! The only cheap stick I can vouch for is: Saitek AV8R for PC It has the same ole poor centering cam Saitek is beating to death but has good quality potentiometers (one of the very few sticks, no matter the price!) It also has 2 smoothly operating throttle levers. IMO it's much better than the Logitech's 3D Pro and better than any other stick up to the X-52 price range. The only other contender I could think of is Thrustmaster T.16000M Gimbals and centering mechanisms are something that you can forget about as being done correctly, no matter the price. Axis play, bumps around neutrum etc. That's why I'm really tempted to try the 16000. PS. I've been dismantling joysticks and cursing the frauds for over a decade now. Sokol1_br Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Saitek AV8R for PC Unfortunatelly this model, AV8R-01 was discontinued at some time, in prol of console compatible versions, AVR8-02 and 03, both worse, with different electronics, cheap pot's... In low cost range the only real options that wort consider is T.16000M an Cobra M-5 (this not properly available), both with PRO and CONS. :joystick:
