Hi Folks,

Has anyone tried to run a HOTAS target profile under windows 10 x64.

I'm getting an error that one of the USB devices in the profile (the joystick) is disconnected and the profile shuts down.

All devices are connected and working ok in windows 10 controller applet. I'm curious whether we have a Target problem or a Windows 10 problem (or both).

Thanks

I don't use one for DCS but do for other sims, and have had no issues with it under Win 10.

Windows 10 FIX if TM HOTAS WARTHOG disconnects during flight. (some SIMS)

Windows 10 Fix for TM HOTAS WARTHOG disconnecting. (some SIMS)

Using USBDeview Program: identifies USB ports.

http://www.nirsoft.net/

ID's are as follows.

TM HOTAS WARTHOG connected directly to USB 2.0 Ports.

Address:

Joystick: Port_#0003.Hub_#0006

Throttle: Port_#0004.Hub_#0006

Your port assignments will probably differ.

Using TM TARGET software ports are "logically" changed to . . .

Address:

Joystick: Port_#0007.Hub_#0003

Throttle: Port_#0008.Hub_#0003

Your port assignments will probably differ.

Under Device Manager - a new category Thrustmaster Devices is created when TM TARGET software is started showing the above change in port numbers.

I had previously gone through all my physical port settings to ensure that the box "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." was unchecked.

However, my HOTAS would still disconnect at irregular intervals. In actuality, it was disconnecting from the "logical" ports #0007 and #0008 and reverting back to "native" port ID of #0004 and #0003 and therefore as this was happening within COD during flight, the SIM did not recognize the new settings and all controls froze.

The FIX:

In the Device Manager:

After making sure that all the ports under Universal Serial Bus Controllers have the box for allowing the computer to turn off the device UNCHECKED - load the Target software and still in the Device Manager go to Thrustmaster Devices and UNCHECK ALL THE BOXES thereby preventing the computer from turning off the device.

So far so good.

NOTE: When turning off the TARGET software the ports also revert from the logical 0007/8 back to 0003/4 (DX direct connect)

Summary, make sure that the USB ports under Universal Serial Bus controllers AND under Thrustmaster Devices are UNCHECKED to prevent the computer from turning them off.

This may also be an issue for other Manufacturers' devices.

Wind10 and Cougar Hotas

catseye:

I have a similar problem with the Cougar.. I can download ... in Foxy .. a file into the Cougar but when I go into the DCS World my joystick can only provide flight control and the TQ throttle only.

My "in" and "out" are in the "universal bUS ..." and not in the Human Interphase Devices file... tHE DRIVERS ARE 2.0.3.0 2007. I initially flashed the firmware 2004 version on a Wind XP SP2 system I recently rebuilt for that reason! When I installed the Throttle I received a message that the

Cougar did not have firmware..... I allowed to install and it asked if I wanted to install in the Universal bus....................

Target does not even show the TQ but in one of th Foxy tests all buttons on the TQ and the throttle are recognized....

What I want to do is assign keys to each of the functions on the HOTAS and use in the DCS flight sims.......... it is not working in Il2-Clod...

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, a little message to warn against the use of LED_INTENSITY.

I already knew that LED intensity could make problems at any setting except full intensity and zero intensity (I experienced it already).

I switched to windows 10 and I started to have deconnections of the throttle, requiring me to stop TARGET, unplug, replug the throttle and restart TARGET (super funny when this happens during online flight), I had it once per flight on average, sometime twice.

I first thought it was the USB problem so I made the modifications for the power but the problem was still here on USB 2.0 or 3.0.

It *seems* that removing completely the LED intensity setting in my script have cured the problem (it didn't come back yet, after 3-4 flights), I had this line that I commented out:

// ActKey(KEYON+PULSE+LED(&Throttle, LED_INTENSITY, 0));

So, if you have problem of throttle disconnecting, try this ;)

I finally did. Its a painful journey that I am not sure I could fully explain. If you can open CCP and download new axis and curve data, then you are good to go really. Just turn on the mouse x and y, and apply that. Then use Home Fries Target profile or make your own. I couldn't get Foxy to download or CCP to download and old style profile. I spent about 10 years using that profile, so I might even see if I can use a virtual machine to install XP, or use a USB drive. I really liked that profile haha.
