*Rage* Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Recently i've noticed that some missiles are fired without a launch flash/missile plume or smoke trail. This has happened very occasionally on pretty much on every online server in HL. Note this is well within visual range......ussually at less than 10km. Anyone else notice this? Shaman Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Anyone else notice this? Yes. I've noticed this with my own R-77 and R-73 already, I was quite surprised. It does happen rarely though. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
*Rage* Posted June 2, 2006 Author Posted June 2, 2006 Online or offline? I was thinking that it could be due to the server being running for a long time?? If other people have this issue then its unlikely that my installation has become corrupted. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
Pilotasso Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Ime geting shot at with R-27ET whose smoke trails were never visible. .
Fudd Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 I fired a R-27ET yesteday on a single player mission, it was a visual range shot and there was no smoke trail. Do ask me why I was firing an ET within visual range :music_whistling: 1 The code is probaly in Russian anyway.
Shaman Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Ime geting shot at with R-27ET whose smke trails were never visible. Never visible?! You're talking about diffrent case then. I'd recommend reinstalling LockOn. What original poster pointed out I've noticed happen very rarely, only online, and it was on last days when 504th server was going crazy (to many workhours or something). I was flying 29, firing my missiles at close range, and haven't seen any missile trails from them. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
Pilotasso Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 I didnt mean never visible like all the missiles came always invisible. Just minutes ago somebody shot me an ET under 15KM and I never seen a smoke trail coming out. At that range even a sidwinder trail is quite visible. .
Frostie Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 I seem to have the opposite problem, its like when I fire my missiles I get a feeling of exposure with the amount of smoke coming off them not to mention the flashing lights and hooter sound that must accompany them cos they dont hit a thing. Force_Feedback Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 I think it has something to do with memory management, in Flanker, when you fires too many unguided rockets at once, their smoke trails would disappear as well. Just some optimization to reduce slowdowns caused by lots of missile trail renderings. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
Pilotasso Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 No, my game perfomance is very satisfying and it still happens ramdomly. .
Force_Feedback Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 No, my game perfomance is very satisfying and it still happens ramdomly. Not with me, when I have bad fps/slideshow mode (for no apparent reason) my missile smoke disappears. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
GiGurra Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 This happens all the time for me. About 50% of all 77s and ETs are invisible [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Pic does not refer to =RvE=Flame in any way
RvEPaploo Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 it is happend when the guy who shotted , this missiles changed his payload and didnt save it. pay attention , about ET you can see smoke but those missille is much faster then his smoke so you can see the smoke and take imediatly thos rocket on nose . such an hard word lol [sIGPIC]http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/5880/signature3jc4.jpg[/sIGPIC]

Rather this is intermittent lack of contrails for otherwise normal missile launches (ie launch warning if radar guided etc) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
Pilotasso Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I see this mostly from enemy missiles but I had ocassions where my own ET's also go smokeless. .
