Followed the tutorial plus some extra steps; Opened the 3d view mission in winrar and extracted the mist .lua script. fired up OpenAlpha ME to make new mission and added the script to it using trigger. See screenshot for the trigger to load it and initialize the 3d script, copy pasted it from the openbeta mission. However, when i load the mission and hit the Fly button i get two errors, see screenshot again. After acknowledging the errors the mission does load but the 3dview script does not work, Any idea's? And given the fact that Mist itself does seem to work in DCS 2.0, i cant think of a reason why this cant work. Then again, don't know much about this kinda thing so could be completely wrong. Now that I have upgraded to 24 GB, I gave it a try. Turns out it works with the 2.0 Open Alpha if we use a current version of MiST. I have created a me-3d-view-nevada.miz and pushed it to GitHub. also any new on static object support? I won't add it, as all of my DCS tinkering time is taken up by DCS-BIOS nowadays. The script is released under GPLv3 though, so feel free to fork it and give it a try. This is also something that I wouldn't want to spend too much time polishing, as it depends on implementation details of the DCS: World mission editor. I totally understand this being proof of concept etc, but it's too much of an awesome thing to just give up on. [Edit] I've been tinkering with this, and part of my problem was I did not have MIST in the view folder. I looked in the mission editor on the viewer to see if I had the correct path to MIST, and I noticed you use 4.0.55, and I have 4.0.57. Does this matter? I get the following error message on starting the viewer mission: [string "me-3dview.start()..."1: attempt to call field 'start' (a nil value) stack traceback: [C]: in function 'start' [string "me-3dview.start()..."]:1: in main chunk [Edit 2] it works on 1.5.3 :D I realised from the error it was not able to reference the scripts to make the necessary calls. I found I had a second copy of the save files that DCS viewer copy had created, and once I copied the appropriate files into this, it works a charm. I get the following error message on starting the viewer mission: [string "me-3dview.start()..."1: attempt to call field 'start' (a nil value) stack traceback: [C]: in function 'start' [string "me-3dview.start()..."]:1: in main chunk And i found this in dcs.log file: Lua::Config: load error Scripts/MissionScripting.lua:[string "C:\Users\******\Saved Games\DCS.Viewer\me_3dview.lua"]:5: unexpected symbol near '<'. I tryed a few times and check more then 1 times the setup instructions from GitHub. Also, i replaced a few times the files u need. Run both instances on the same PC. Someone can help me ? :cry::helpsmilie:

That won't work, because that link does not go to the raw file, it goes to a pretty website that shows the syntax-highlighted code. (If you open the me_3dview.lua you downloaded, it's probably full of HTML markup.) You can either click the link normally, then use the "raw" link/button on that site to get the file, install Git and clone the repository, or just use the "Download ZIP" button on GitHub to get the contents of the complete repository as a ZIP file. Findorade Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 3D View for the DCS: World Mission Editor PROBLEMMMMM :cry: Hello all so i follow entire procedure on Github and finally nothing work .....:) i m confesse i m totally noob and maybe i ll do something wrong but at least i can tell, i ve identified one probleme with this file MissionEditor.lua so evrytime i touch juste one quote or anything else DCS cant launch normally ,so he begin to load and after welcome screen nothing else ,blackscreen i forget to mentione i have instaledl 2 version of DCS( both 1.5.3) on same PC and same hard drive but one work with Steam and he s attached too and the second in external way but they share my account informations fine and boths log fine without any modification If someone have idea or can help me ,he make me so happy :helpsmilie: i really dont understand why they havent imlplemented 3d viewver with basic version GRRRRRR so im French so vous pouvez aussi m'aider en Francais:music_whistling:

I was discouraged by the time taken to check correct unit position by lauching the mission. I can't wait for ED to implement this... and it's just a pity i don"t have any programming knwoledge cause i'd like to add the static objects or Farp! I'm surprised no one tryed to fork your work. By the way, i use open beta for the viewer and the Stable for the Mission Editor, it works like a charm. Thank you so much!

So I could even change the I have to restart the mission in the viewer. I have just one question about the dcs_variant.txt file. What should it contain and what DCS is it the place (the editor or viewer) knowing that in my case. I'm on one machine.
