feefifofum Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Ladies and gents, the 355th VFS has officially opened recruitment! We are a relatively new squadron, currently around 8 members strong. We primarily operate the A-10C, Su-25T, Ka-50, and F-15C but most of our pilots are multi-talented. When slots are available in a mission, some of our members also pilot the UH-1H. We run a weekly event every Sunday at 8PM EST, generally featuring a cooperative mission designed either by one of our members or one of the other excellent mission designers in the DCS community. Attendance is not mandatory, but is strongly encouraged. We try to fly as realistically as our knowledge (and skills!) allow. Our squadron implements an IQT program to help anyone who isn't familiar brush up on the systems of their chosen aircraft. Experience with DCS is not required, provided you bring a good attitude and a willingness to learn! If this sounds like something you'd be interested in being a part of, stop by our website at http://355thvfs.enjin.com Leave a post to say hello in our Introductions forum, fill out our short application, and one of our senior staff will contact you to set up an introductory flight! wingnut Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 This is a very laid back and great group to fly with. Attendance is not mandatory and there is usually something going on most days of the week as well as the official Sunday night flight. The instructors are very knowledgable and patient and will help you learn new airplanes as well as the ones you are comfortable in.[sIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/27wvRIj.png[/sIGPIC]

Mt5_Roie Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Sounds interesting....I flew with a A-10C wing in the past and am looking to get back into flying with a wing a bit more. I'd also love to spend more time in other aircraft as well (F-15, Huey, etc).....will check out the website. Questions though....are you guys on DCS 2.0 yet? Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester

Mt5_Roie Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Yes, most of us are on 2.0. Nice...I was a founding member of the Virtual Tactical Air Group and was an IP for A-10C back in the day...but haven't been active in a while due to life. Want to get back into multiplayer to expand my skills. I used to build the training maps for the VTAG so been working on a Nevada training map to practice on. Its' great to finally have a new area to fly in. I submitted my application for the 335th....hope to see you in the skies guys! Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester

shark32 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I started using DCS for about a month, didn't realize it was out there. At that time I acquired the A-10C and began to read the DCS forums and manual but it was a very complex simulator. Was at time a little frustrating but it is expected when a simulator is so realistic. At this stage I do not contribute too much to the DCS forum as I am learning as much as I can but do read plenty of the posts. Found out about the 355th VFS open recruitment and decided to give it a try, on the 9th of this month I'll be with the 355th for a month and it has been the best decision I've made. Great bunch of people willing to help out and we do have fun. Very professional but at the same time very lay back. Did learn from Viper in a few days more than I learned with the manuals and videos, and everyone is willing to help and teach what they know. It is a great squadron and I am glad I did read this post when I did. :)
Brewnix Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Yes I agree its a pretty good squadron lots of patience and good people. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
wingnut Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 We had our first internal PvP last weekend. Started at 1200EST Friday and ended 2300EST Sunday. First day neither side could cross an imaginary border running east/west out of Poti. Redfor main base was Sukumi and there first day objective was to take Kohlki from Blufor ground units and then start massing troops around Poti. Blufor started at Batumi and had to take the forward airbase at Kobuleti and start building defenses and massing troops around Poti. Aircraft available all FC3 aircraft, M2000, Uh-1, Mi8, Su25t, Mig21 and A10c as well as combined arms. 1200est Saturday allowed each side to cross the border and push to takeover Poti and each others forward airbase. The Main base was still off limits. Su 25s made their money doing sead tasking taking out SA6 and Hawk sites that each side had to build flying 4 crates in with Helos. Then F-15s flying Cap against each other to protect A10s cleaning up opfor units. Helos running low level deep insertions at night to put boots on the ground behind enemy lines. On the F10 map neither side could see the other. Blufor managed to take Poti and Kohlki pushing Redfor back to their main base. Redfor managed to sneak two Mig 21s loaded with Nukes up to Nalchuck for one final measure if needed. At 2000EST Sunday (our regular mission night) Everything e=was fair game and the push was on by Blufor to take Sukumi. Redfor launched two Mig 21s from Nalchuck on a long low level flight to penetrate blufor defenses and nuke Batumi. They were successful in evading AWACS and our CAP and leveled Batumi. It was a great weekend of flying with anywhere from 3-6 guys per team on most the time and then at our regular Sunday time we had about 7 a side. We'll be taking a break from the PvP for a bit and doing our regular squad nights to recover. Here is a quick video of some of the highlights.[sIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/27wvRIj.png[/sIGPIC]

Heart Symbol Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) Just thought I'd stop by and give the post a little bump because I know how much Viper loves that sort of thing. Edited April 4, 2016 by Heart Symbol [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jcbak Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I've been a member of the group for about one month and I would be hard pressed to find a better group of guys to fly with. Many of them have a good deal of knowledge and they are happy to share what they've learned. The group is friendly, well run and very organized. http://355thvfs.enjin.com/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]WIN 10, i7 10700, 32GB DDR4, RTX 2080 Super, Crucial 1TB SSD, Samsung EVO 850 500GB SSD, TM Warthog with 10cm extension, TIR5, MFG Crosswind Pedals, Wheelstand Pro, LG 40" 4K TV, Razer Black Widow Ultimate KB[/size]
