I have several of the individual like A10a, SU27, F15c, etc. I see that FC3 has these planes included. Are there reasons to buying FC3 if I already own modules with the same planes? Are the missions in FC3 different from the missions with the A10a, SU27, F15c, etc?

same as far as i can see

(I had FC3 and bought F15C by accident)

the planes are 100% the same. You can buy the flaming cliffs pack to get a lot of planes at a good deal, especially since it's on sale right now. The standalones are for if you, say, care only about F15C. The FC3 pack has planes not sold as standalone ( MiG29A,G,S variants. SU-33 ) but they may be of a lower quality compared to the other planes.

So to clarify...all the A-10A, F-15C, SU-27, SU-25 are all "clickable" cockpits in FC3 and exactly like the stand alone modules? I don't even see a option to buy a MiG 29 standalone. Is it the MiG 29s that are less fidelity?

Is the A-10C is a better sim model the A-10A?

What is it that makes FC3 different?

I'm still confused.

DCS level aircraft: Clickable cockpits, advanced flight models & full detailed system modelling.

F-15C & Su-27 (and FC3): No clickable cockpits. Advanced flight models. 'Basic' system modelling.

A-10A, MiG-29 & Su-33 (FC3): No clickable cockpits. Basic flight models & system modelling.

Su-25T: No clickable cockpit. Advanced flight model & semi-advanced system modelling.

At some point both the Su-33 and MiG-29 variants are slated to get the full advanced flight models. I don't think the A-10A will get anything further because we have the A-10C at full DCS level.

Personal wish list: DCS: Su-27SM & DCS: Avro Vulcan.

Thanks.... It looks like then the best option $ wise if I want as many of the aircraft is the FC3 module. Separately they are $30 and bought individually i wouldn;t get the MiG 29s or SU-33

Yes. Unless you have no interest at all in most of the aircraft, buying FC3 is by far more cost effective than buying any of the individual aircraft.

Wrong! The A-10A is advanced flight model

Ah, fair enough, I didn't know that, not having ever flown the thing :)

I hope you guys don't mind if I check here and put up some facts :)

The F15C and Su-27 have the highest quality flight model available in DCS. the so called Professional flight model "PFM". The systems model level is Standard Systems Model "SSM" As are all other FC3 level craft.

The A10A and SU25A enjoy the second highest flight model: Advanced Flight Model Plus "AFM+" This is equal in quality to AFM but has extra calculations for forces caused by hydraulics and Fuel. Both planes sport a standard systems model "SSM"

The Free Su25T Sports an Advanced flight model "AFM". An AFM uses multiple points of force application and calculation on the relevant flight surfaces. This simulates edge of envelope conditions well and avoids scripted behaviors as used in an SFM. This system also partially implements the aircraft's flight augmentation systems. This is the 3rd highest quality of flight modelling in DCS. Note that this plane sports an SSM contrary to what I read before ( the actual avionics are of a higher quality than say the Su-25A, but the simulation level is still simplified ).

The Su-33 and MiG29 variants are the last relics to use the Standard Flight Model "SFM". Also sporting Standard systems modelling ofcourse. ED plans to upgrade these at some point.

You can refer to this if you are more curious about what each quality level actually means, there's also a link to a matrix at the bottom that confirms my statements about the quality levels I've made.

You would be crazy not to buy FC3.

You would be crazy not to buy FC3. It is the gift that keeps on giving.

I bought it when there not many 6DOF cockpits ... and now they are all 6DOF and two have advanced flight model - and probably more will be added.

IMO Su-33 has the most beautiful model and cockpit in DCS. Wish I knew who the 3d artist/texture guy/s were for it. I would subscribe to their work.

Just get FC3. If you like aircraft in general (and have a soul :smilewink:) you will fly and enjoy them all ... at least once.

Yes I agree with all of this. I keep returning to the F15C and the Su27 again and again. Although TBH I only bought the package when the F15C got it's PFM. Looking forward to trying out the Su33 (waiting for the PFM) and the Mig29 :)
