Hi Guys,

i'm building a dedicated flight sim PC. stopped by Microcenter last night and picked up i5 6600K and a suitable MB. i will be staying with DDR3, have 16GB of RAM allocated for the build already. aside of the usual combo discount MC also had a 10$ off coupon towards SSD which i used to get another 256gb 850 evo. originally i planned on using 128GB Crucial M4 i already had as sole drive for both OS and DCS. that duty will be relegated to the new evo and now I have a spare drive.

a question: do you think having OS and DCS on separate drives will be of benefit at all?

thanks!

Anton.

Probably not as much as it used to be if any , especially with SSD's.

In any event, I always recommend installing outside of the program files folder if installed on the C drive. Sometimes windows gets into some crazy permissions things inside that folder.

Having said that, I do have two SSD's - one for my OS and programs, and another dedicated for games and DCS.

DCS runs splendidly on my system.

I had DCS on my SSD with Windows back in 2011 and it did not seem to create an issue. However, since then I have kept my OS on a separate drive in my flight sim machine.

EDIT: Of course, back then, DCS ran quite well on my i7-2600K and a GTX 560ti. :)

I have had it both ways. No noticable difference in load times Etc. I do however like my DCS install seperate and to this end get my 3rd SSD for Christmas fingers crossed :)

i was also leaning towards "absolutley no gain. use 2 anyways" :)
