craigw Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 I would describe myself as an enthusiastic novice when it comes to air combat sims but I've played enough to know a10c is damn fine. however, I reckon the ATC and flight comms options let it down. I would love, for instance, to be able to call up the airfield and request emergency landings, perhaps even have a fire truck roll out to the runway. being told to orbit with half a wing hanging off is just plain rude. also calling up your wingman to check what munitions he still has (f16 had good options here) would be useful. any thoughts?
Yurgon Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Absolutely, good thoughts! I also miss some (well... most :D) of the radio and ATC options that were in Falcon 4. Good news is, ED announced that they were going to rework the entire ATC in DCS. Bad news is, it'll only be ready when it's ready (and when that'll be is anyone's guess). Or, to put it differently, they're of course aware that this is an area that needs a lot of polishing, and they're on it, but I don't recall any news regarding this topic lately. But with 1.5 Beta and 2.0 Alpha, with the M-2000C in testing prior to Beta release, with The Enemy Within DLC campaign just launched, I guess they really have their hands full right now.

My guess is that it will be ready not earlier than end of 1st Q of 2016, with quite a few things in the pipeline still: M2000, porting Caucasus to 2.0, skeleton model of infantry (I almost wrote "skeleton infantry", LOL) and the new ATC. And yeah, I miss a possibility to ask your wingman what ordnance he has left. Also would be good to be able to ask him for the damage assessment of your plane, at least you would know if you have landing gear intact... For more information, please visit my website. If I was a programmer at ED, I'd probably toss in a reply that gets randomly triggered maybe just once per 200 or so requests, that sounds something like... "Yeah, you're screwed. If I was you, I'd punch out right now." :D
