jjohnson241 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Updated to DCS Alpha 2.2 and tried Mig21. After mission loads with engines running, I get a slideshow trying to taxi to runway. It smooths out a bit after take-off as though whatever is trying to initialize completes (pure guess on my part). The mission I flew is a modified Hawk Free Flight mission, modified to use the Mig21 instead of the Hawk. Mission starts engines running on ramp. Radar appeared to be off or in standby. There were other aircraft operating in area. This is the first problem I've had with 2.0. I've been flying all aircraft at max graphic settings since I installed the 2.0 with no FPS problems. Something is buggy with the Mig. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67
statrekmike Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I would try just using the mission editor to place a single MiG-21Bis on the ramp to start up and fly, this would eliminate any variables.

I'm not a Mission Editor guy. Is there a quick 1,2,3 guide as to how to do that? Thanks. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67
grunf Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I'm not a Mission Editor guy. Is there a quick 1,2,3 guide as to how to do that? Thanks. 1. open the mission editor :smartass: 2. click on the airplane icon on the left 3. place it somewhere (in your case near the airport) by mouse left click 4. chose country, aircraft type, and skill (Player) on the top of the right panel 5. chose waypoint type on the bottom of right panel - you can start from a runaway, or ramp, hot or cold

Tried mission from Nellis, cold-dark, start up and slide show during taxi. Same as described above. I see that I'm not alone with the symptom at Nellis at least. LNS please take a look at this. Mike Busutil Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) I saw this as well with the Mig-21. I have a powerful computer that runs DCS on max settings with no issues at all. I did a cold start from Nellis (default parking spot) and had very bad frames on both internal and external views. Once I got started and taxied forward and turned left it cleared up perfectly. cquail Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Tested it out today starting at Creech. No issues with FPS at all. Perhaps it is a Nellis issue?
Andrei Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Have this problem as well. Nellis, FPS are 11-15 instead of normal 30+ - This happens ONLY with MiG-21. No problem with other a/c - This doesn't seem to happen in Creech AFB (not sure about McCarren) - FPS increase as you fly away from Las Vegas, eventually back to normal - FPS are back to normal if game is paused. And drop again when unpaused. Thus, I can deduce it may have something to do with MiG-21 overloading CPU. hughlb Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) I thought I was going crazy, but I believe there is a drop in framerate on the ground at Groom. I don't know exactly by how much, as I run vsync ON. I had a stable 60fps yesterday, in fact I kept bumping up the clouds to try and get it to dip, but it held solid. Today it dips to 50fps when looking at the base buildings from inside the cockpit. Just thought it was worth mentioning. Not dramatic, but enough to notice in Fraps. EDIT: Yes, when paused it goes right back to 60fps.. as Andrei mentions. EDIT: Yes, seems to be unique to MiG-21 - just tested the Su-27, 25, F-15 in same conditions/location, and no FPS drop.
