USAFMTL Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 That is the first thing I noticed when flying it, how rock steady it is. [sigpic][/sigpic] US Air Force Retired, 1C371 No rank or title will ever be as important as the unit patch you wear.
Tenkom Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Is this the first fly-by-wire plane in DCS? It flies completely differently from all the others. No matter how hard I yank the controls the plane stays smooth and in control. Until I turn of the FBW system that is. Then it becomes an absolute monster ready to kill you without hesitation. First time I turned it off in-air the plane immediately flipped on it's back and broke both its wings. Then I tried turning it off before take-off and I was able to keep it in the air for a couple of minutes before I pulled the stick a little bit too hard and it snapped it's wings off again.

I think we already warned you that things get a lot interesting when you turn the FBW off and that the word "difficult" does not even describe what happens. "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning." "The three most dangerous things in the world are a programmer with a soldering iron, a hardware type with a program patch and a user with an idea."
cameleon33 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I just don't understand this need from people to disconnect FBW  Why did Dassault even bother to put a FBW in this plane anyway? Pilots are having so much fun disconnecting it! :joystick: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Tenkom Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Yes yes. Of course. It was by no means meant as criticism. I think it's pretty cool actually. It makes sense to my limited understanding of aerodynamics that an aircraft with only one wing will be inherently unstable and require computer assistance. The switch will not be touched under normal operations. But I have to try these things out of course. :)

I never miss an occasion to crash into the ground... as soon as I'm back home with my joystick :joystick: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
