erjdriver Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I've got a pretty powerful computer and at medium settings i'm getting pretty bad frame rates - around 40-50. But really goes down when I enable the SCHVAL - down to around 10. make playing the game impossible. What could be contributing to this problem. What does COCKPIT RES setting do - i've got it set to 1024. I'm running the production DC 1.5.2 i7 + 16GB ram + ssd + nvidia 960
dburne Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 What does COCKPIT RES setting do - i've got it set to 1024. I'm running the production DC 1.5.2 That's the resolution in your tv display, and can be a resource hog in 1.5. I would suggest lowering that to 512, should help. Also try setting terrain shadows to flat only. Rogue Trooper Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I also use 1024 and the frame rate drop is not noticeable. Are you running 1024 on every frame? this can drain fps. There is a reported bug related to extreme frame rate drop when running the monitor at 1024 and it is noticeable when you launch Vikhrs; the frame rate steadily drops whilst in flight and finally gets right down to 10 - 12 fps just before and during the vikhr impact. Is this what you are seeing? HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled. erjdriver Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 I was running 1024 - not every frame and was down to 10-12 fps - when the SCHVAL is turned on. With 512 not so bad - but still a big drop. Yes w/ vikhrs also big drop.
snowsniper Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 since last patch I had about 25 FPS max in 1.5 and 1.5beta I deleteted the \user\savedgames\DCS directory ( and save it elsewhere) restart repair set all graphic option in high and I have know 65 fps in cockpit an 100-135 in outside F2 F3 view. so... I then put back in \user\savedgames\DCS directory - my \config\ input directory - my missions directory - my liveries and kneeboard directory everything work fine now, due probably because of old config files or old cfg lua files i suppose. if it can helps FPS issues in 1.5.2 i7-10700KF CPU 3.80GHz - 32 GO Ram - - nVidia RTX 2070 - SSD Samsung EVO with LG TV screen 40" in 3840x2150 - cockpit scale 1:1 - MS FFB2 Joystick - COUGAR F16 throttle - Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals
Raven434th Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 (edited) 60 plus FPS here at 512 cockpit res ...turn on camera to search for targets and it drops to 20.Seems this happens almost after every update we get in BS ,why can't they just assume it will happen and fix it before it goes out the door???? edit...after a reboot this seemed to fix the issue...could be that changes aren't taking place in settings until the game is closed then reopened? Deleted irrelevant old v1.2x files and modified the relevant 1.5x files so they didn't have any garbage entries from v1.2x that aren't need anymore (specifically frame rate locking, and cpu core usage, Server network configs and lot of other things also). erjdriver Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 restart repair What do you mean by "restart repair". Rename the DCS folder under Saved Games to something else and then just restart DCS right. That inits a new DCS folder and then I copied the old Config folder to the newly created folder. Seems to be better but I did bump down a lot of settings.
