well it doesn't need a fix, it needs to be implemented. That's all !

It is a must, and of course RAZBAM are fully aware of it.

It'll be added, but it is just a matter of waiting for the module to reach completion. And don;'t expect miracles, these things take time.

I'm not even playing it now because of this reason. And because the radar does not work correctly yet. No more beta pre-orders for me. But don't get me wrong. I like this module a lot and it fly's like a dream and when those features are added and fixed i will play it again. Just hoped this would have been fixed already.

Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.

Im still fooling around in some sandbox missions, trying to get proficient with the SuperD and the Magic II (actually Aim9M, waiting for some MII fixes) but Im not flying it online. Im patient and the fixes are incoming, enjoying the M2000C as it is, and eagerly waiting for the training missions and campaign.

its a shame IFF doesn't work in MP yet. I don't fly the module either cause i don't want to get Team Kills. i fly 99% online so its a big issue for me. I'm just concerned that it wasn't implemented at all so far, was it a oversight or just can't get it working?

No IFF and radar inabilities = alpha, not beta (in my humble opinion)

What could be very useful is for ED to provide a publicly available criteria defining alpha, beta, AFM, PFM etc releases. People need to be able to educated themselves before purchase.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Mirage but at this time it is combat ineffective. Great for playing around in the sand box but nothing more.

Yes this wasn't clear for that module.

Usually Beta means all the function are implemented, and only bugs needs to be resolved to come to release version

But that's a little OT

This! It's the only thing RAZBAM did wrong. I'm not disappointed at all becuase they could have let us wait until IFF would be implemented (if they implement it next week it would be two months of waiting for example) and i really enjoyed to fly around until now, i just don't understand why it's called beta since really important stuff still needs to be done.

Anyways, M-2000c will be the best plane in that game (for me) and i can't wait. :pilotfly:

Currently the only servers that you can do combat with the M2000 (without teamkilling) are servers who allows Friendlies to be visible on the Map.

That way if you see a popup on radar you double check on the map to see if there are any friendlies in that area and if there are you need to get closer to get a vis ID or untill the targets seperate.

As I understand it, RAZBAM were given a set of criteria (by ED) to meet in order to reach beta status. A set of criteria that they indeed met. Unfortunately, working IFF wasn't one of those criteria.

Every feature is important to someone, it's just bad luck that IFF wasn't part of mandatory deliveries. Calling the aircraft useless, and RAZBAM "wrong" for this reason alone is a bit harsh IMO, it is largely outweighted by the benefits of being able to test the aircraft and also give input while it is being refined.

As others have pointed out, there are workarounds.

I see no comment in this thread saying "useless". Stay on topic and don't stir the pot.

Who are we to decide what does and doesn't constitute an Alpha or Beta release! The fact that a module is released under Beta means it is not a final release, nothing more, nothing less. What remains to be completed is entirely in the hands of the developers.

I can see absolutely no point in anyone saying they're disappointed because this or that wasn't working in Beta releases. The purpose of Beta releases is to assist the developers finalising their product, and bringing it to a state where they can change it's status to that of a full release.

Anyone who invests in a Beta release module should not expect to be able to jump straight into multiplayer servers and use the airframe to it's full potential. If you imagined you were going to be able to, then frankly your expectations are way off the mark!

What you should expect, is to have to go through a process of simply reporting factually any issues you encounter, and only if no one else has already reported it. You shouldn't take it on yourselves to start moaning about how incomplete something is, and you certainly shouldn't participate in Beta releases unless you are prepared to accept that it isn't complete, and probably won't be for at least 6 months.

You do yourselves no favours by making unwarranted claims about what should or shouldn't be included in an Alpha or Beta. It is defined as whatever ED and the developers decide, and we have absolutely no say in that. It is what it is, so get used to it, or wait for the full release before you buy.

No one is interested in the slightest whether or not you buy Beta releases in the future, and I expect that RAZBAM or whoever else is behind a project, they'd far sooner you kept your money if you can't be positive about helping in the evolution of a module.

Who are we to decide what does and doesn't constitute an Alpha or Beta release!(...).

We are people who believe in the original meaning of the term - i.e. despite the bad habit in the industry to call beta whatever seems appropriate for someone in a given situation, that term has/had a meaning.

(not getting into the discussion here at hand, just trying to clarify that "beta" has a meaning and is not completely random)

From Reddit, about IFF:

It's being worked on, but it's not independent of some other improvements that need to be made first (such as the radar). It's a high priority, but that doesn't mean it's going to be done in a week.
HUD completion/alignment, INS, and Radar/IFF are the immediate focus. After that, ECM and damage model improvements.

I don't doubt you are correct in what you say Flagrum, but the reality within DCS World is what it is, and no matter how much we debate it, this is the status quo.

We have seen enough projects in Beta by now to realise that things take time, and arrive incomplete. Let me give you a list of the modules that have arrived in a near complete state, and just required debugging:

MiG-15Bis

So, regardless of the definition as seen in Wikipedia (which as a reference source simply doesn't survive scruitiny anyway. If we were to start a discussion on the errors and inaccuracies Wikipedia, we'd need to set up a new forum! It was set up originally using public contributions for all it's entries and is still way way short of becoming a reliable source).

What happens in DCS World doesn't conform to any definition but their own. ED define what is ready by testing it themselves immediately before release. They're satisfied with the M-2000C clearly, and as Razbam are very quickly bringing solutions to highlighted issues, have acknowledged our observations. Any complaint is completely unreasonable as the module has only been in our hands for a month! I could understand it if they weren't making every effort to correct the problems, but clearly they are working hard, and already have resolved a lot of them.

Now let's just leave them to finish the project instead of complaining over things that frankly are unreasonable to take issue with right now.

NeilWillis, what you are suggesting then is that we the consumer have no right to ask for a clarification on the definition of Alpha or Beta? We have no right to ask to be better informed as to what we are purchasing? Key word there being "purchasing".

You see, its not a huge step to ask for clarification, to allow people to be better informed. I never said I'm outraged, I never said this is useless, I simply stated that in my prior experience with beta's which include Flanker 2.0, the items I listed were implemented.

A lot of people had already purchased it by the time that was posted. Again, if we had a set criteria from ED it would serve to educate us all.

IFF is not a priority?

My two cents from 104th expierence: Super R530 is good enough, one shoot one kills for me (two enemy and one friendly), but IFF is really a nightmare. Only the 5% of players chose the Mirage because of this problem, even if Mirage is a good fighter, competitive, so i would ask to you all how is possible to say that IFF is not a priority......really !

Actually when you choose Mirage is like to say....."Hooo my God, another one team killer !!!!".

My two cents, considering that flying online is first of all a promotional feature for Mirage 2000C by RAZBAM. Shoot down friendly aircrafts is not, not at all.....

The good news is that Super R530 does work fine.

I love it, really, but i will not fly it anymore in PvP games, till IFF will not be implemented. I don't want to be banned as team killer. Fortunately, at least for now, people online understand this problem and answer you: "NP, don't worry"........but one friendly kill is more than enough, at least for me.

This is a "shame" considering that R530 is really a good missile!

P.S. i fly deep in the enemy territory to shoot only at enemy aircrafts, but this is just ridicolous....and somentimes it's not enough.

So......this is a priority.

Period.
