Capn kamikaze Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 How can I get helicopters to take off without them taxiing out to the runway, I have done a search, but couldn't find anything. I don't want them to clog up the runway, but I do want them to use the same base I am using. Trying to make it look busy.
Wrecking Crew Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Yes ^^^ Put a FARP at the airbase and put the helicopter start and end (if you want) waypoints on the FARP. Apache600 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Without doing anything special, I've seen them takeoff after taxing 20ft forward from a spawned Hot Spot start at Nalchick airport. Justificus Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I've only been focusing on the Nevada map and the Huey, at least at Nellis, has always just lifted off from where I place it. The Mi-8 will mostly taxi. It seems more helo dependent than anything else from my casual observations. Grimes Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 It is dependent on two things. 1. Skids vs wheels. If a helicopter has skids they aren't programmed to hover taxi so they just take off from where-ever they spawn or land at where they are going to be parked. If the helicopter is wheeled it will taxi like airplanes do. 2. If the spawn location has AI pathing that links to runways. The vast majority of spawns do link to a runway. I believe Groom Lake and McCarren on NTTR are the only bases in the game at the moment that have dedicated areas that are isolated from the runways. So in these cases wheeled helicopters will just lift off normally. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
