If you could change Hyperlobby what would you add?

Hyperlobby is pretty decent for what it does (when its up), though I can think of a few features I'd add if I was the developer.

 

Server view features:

Auto detect game version

Display current mission file

Icon if server has homepage clickable to URL

Icon if server has stats enabled clickable to stats URL

 

Statistics:

Allowance for non-spamming channel bots. These would either respond to private message commands like !score etc and respond with PM. Alternatively you could possibly attach a channel bot feature the server view. Right click the server / get scores.

 

And the list could go on. Anybody else have suggestions?

Many people have built 'Lobby' clients and it is not hard to improve. HL is really quite basic. I thank Jiri for having it up. However it should never have been necessary.

 

Personally speaking I don't like the lobby and will be happy when it goes. Bring on proper Ingame Server browsers.

In-game server browser, make it gamespy or whatever is a must nowadays. I agree.

 

When thinking about improving HL, I'd like to see complete rework on UI. Completely new HL, man!

Personally I think HL is the best thing ever to happen to the flightsim community as everyone can meet and select a server etc. If there were anything I'd like to change it would be to include a voice communications server automatically linked to the HL server. Running with a similar system to ventrillo(with the same quality), such a system that is integrated ingame. So in the jet there is no chat window but if in the real aircraft you can send and recieve text messages then same is available. If your radio gets shot out then you are hungup:thumbup: . If you are operating a ECM type aircraft then there is also the ability to intercept enemy radio transmissions(both encrytped and nonencrpted). [this provides direction for transmissions as well, and also the ability to give false vectors:D ]. Radios also are effected by line of sight and weather effects as well as enemy jamming. For FPS the players can be overheard by the enemy and the need to use hand signals becomes more important.

What I'd like to see implemented the most would be a meinit.xml verifier - with a built-in database at the host. That way, vanilla Lock On/Cliffs (unmodified) would get marked as playing such, people playing with Shepski's mod would get their own room, and so would people playing the Navy Supermod. That way, you'd both eliminate cheaters and give people a chance to play modded, eliminating any possible conflicts.

"When it's up?" You're joking, right? I would add a couple of more character spaces. Jiri has told me that that is exactly what he plans to do on version 4.0x. Only he knows the timeline- but I'm pretty thankful for it.

It would be nice to have the ability to maximize the interface to higher resolutions, would be able to see more of the chat window, a longer list of friends and players online, etc.

 

Quite a bit more work on the buddy list and messaging system would be nice too . . .

yeah bud. I made it last year sometime. I sent it to jiri...who said it was nice but I guess was kinda hesitant to re-doing the entire program. ppst...If u notice VAR dESIGNS on the side, I made it after making the flankertraining.com site for ironhand. I wanted to make my own design site....but meh....I am too lazy nowadays...just strolling around. :P

 

However, if u guys are in contact with him, and if he does like this style, I can make a few designs for hyperlobby interface.

you forget protos HL isnt just for Lomac.

You can change channel and fly numerous other sims, great feature.

 

Id like private chat channel, with invitation to group conversation maybe?

And perhaps a few weeks without a FB channel :P
