I was thinking the same thing. That is why we pick up every little thing from the ground. At full power, that vortex can travel surprisingly far.

guys, please post/link a sideview image of the airduct geometry of the F-16.

it could be a cutaway or exploded view and would be good a GE and a PW engine version images. (i guess the airduct is the same for both engines (mid+rear section), only the intake-mouth and the forward airduct section is differ, right?)

one more: i would like to see how/where the engine placed in the fuselage as well (longitudinal axis, hub planes of compressor and turbine blades and where is the "front of" the engine (of course above the main gear bays but behind them?)

p.s. i missing these infos but i need them for making an accurate 3d model of the f-16

thanks

thanks i know those images, so you dont know about a sideview too ?

and a component view ? (internal fuel tanks, engine, radar, gear bays etc.)

something similar may would be good but as a sideview image (cutaway, exploded or an "x-ray" view) i need a sideview only

http://aviazioneaereimilitari.altervista.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/F-16ADF.jpg

the most important "part" are the airduct geometry and the engine position compared to the position of the gear bays in a sideview

Never seen a side view cutaway. But still do not understand why would you need internal components locations for a 3d model.

...the engine position compared to the position of the gear bays in a sideview

The engine starts just aft of where the main landing gear is connected.

For internal components, if it helps, just post a photo or link of the area you are looking at and I can tag it like a I have done in the past on this thread.

I forgot to mention, the engine bay on the photo is from an A model (AFAIK). The way to tell is that there is not standby generator, the ice detector probe in on the bottom of the intake and engine bay top rail goes all the way back.

looks like that's an italian adf variant (see the wide tail root section)

btw adf variant: i forgot to ask some questions about the lights: those ADFs have landing/taxi lights on the main-gear-oleo-struts (same as most of the adversary variants in Nellis and in Fallon),

do you know how wide is the pojection angle of those spotlights ?

do they use the same luminaire on both side ? (left-landing, right-taxi) only the light directions differ ?

do you know the adjusted direction angles of those luminaires (azimuth, elevation)

and on the newer variants the taxi/landing lights ? (on the nose-wheel-bay-door)

same luminaries as on top and bottom? (both have 2 lens with 2 bulbs, upper 2 for landing, lower 2 for taxi)

luminaries totally fixed to the door ?

and when they want to adjust the light direction (maintenance) are they adjusting the two lens inside the fixed luminaire ?

and the same question as above: do you know the adjusted light direction angles of those luminaires (azimuth and elevation for taxi and landing lights) on these newer variants ?

big thanks

Blocks 1 to 32 where all originally built to carry the taxi/landing light on the Main Landing Gear (MLG). Block 40/42 was the first to carry it on the nose, so the AN/AAQ-13/14 would not block them. Later on many different models (but not all) where modified to carry the Landing/taxi light on the Nose Landing Gear (NLG) door. IIRC, the are the same (taxi and landing) and the are fix to the door or the MLG, they are not suppose to move.

As for the angle of the light, you might want to go to F-16.net. You have a better chance of some one knowing. I worked on F-16 1997 to 2012 and never heard or know anyone that adjusted the landing/ taxi light angle.

From the CG -1

Landing and Taxi Lights

A white landing light and taxi light assembly is located on the

NLG door. The landing light is angled to illuminate the

landing area. The lights are turned on by the three-position

LANDING TAXI lights switch located on the LG control

panel. The switch has positions of LANDING, OFF, and

TAXI. The light goes off during LG retraction if the switch is

left in either the LANDING or TAXI position. The landing

and taxi lights are not NVIS friendly

Additionally, the bumps on the vertical tail (for flight control hydraulic accumulators)are not exclusive of the ADF block 15. Some OCU block 15 had them as well and all c model (25 to 52+) have the flight accumulators at the base of the tail.

An Odd Couple

The 81st continued its Wild Weasel mission until it received the A-10 in 1994, but one of the most interesting aircraft swaps happened in 1987, when the squadron received F-16 Fighting Falcons to replace the aging F-4Es. It became the first and only squadron in the Air Force to-date to fly two different aircraft in the same combat element. The F-4 and F-16 pilots worked hand-in-hand as one of the only hunter/killer teams in Europe.
