What is the Ignition setting for, on the engine operation switches? The settings are NORM, Motor & Ignition...

I thought initially it was for engine starting such as on other jets where you spool the engine up before introducing fuel with the throttle. I also thought it may be for flying into cloud or visible moisture to prevent engine flameout etc...

Anyone have an idea??

Igniter plugs. IGN is continuous ignition. MOTOR is for dry motoring the engine; no power to the igniters. NORM provides power to the igniter during normal start and removes it after start. Just keep it in NORM.

IGN is a momentary switch position (i.e. it needs to be held there and will revert to NORM when let go). It's for windmill restart of the engine in air.

Engine start is fully automatic and does not need anything more than moving the throttle from off to idle.

You would use motor to clear the engine after a failed start attempt. IGN is to restart the engine in the air.

You don't need to use IGN for a windmill restart.

So would is it used for then? I also thought it's purpose is in-air engine start.
