F-86 vs MIG servers?

Yesterday I closed in on a formation of 4 MIGs. I shot down 3 and damaged 1 without them moving the stick an inch. Not that I mind, there was a helluva celebration back at Kimpo base, but I'd expect them to at least try to survive :)

Oh and I did find that AWACS plane today - took a while to get to it but took it down. I tried to investigate the carrier and DD, but promptly got a missile in my face, haha. Anyways, good work on the server!

 

I saw you yesterday when you were back to base. I thought about landing and rearming, maybe joining for a mission, but you finished your day when you landed.

 

Maybe one of these days we can go blow things together. I am a good target, I can distract the enemy and die, while you finish some carrier out there :)

It's been up and running all week, not sure why you are not seeing it. About a dozen on yesterday.

 

I am going out of town for the weekend so I'll reset the server beforehand and include a minor update. Bookmark the server when you see it and it will be easier to find in the future.

Rob, when I join the server and click "fly", I'm thrown into spectator mode. It has happened before too. Any ideas what might cause this? Thanks!

Maybe, try another slot, if that aircraft has been shot down and the pilot not rescued the aircraft will not be available.

 

Or try another squadron at another base, it may be out of aircraft.

 

Otherwise I am not sure. The server is now running on update 3 - open beta and release users should all be ok.

However, AI MIGs are still just flying straight, they are not putting up any fight :/

Odd, we ran into a pair Thursday that put up quite a fight despite the odds. Maybe you ran into some that were bingo and on the way home, they tend to take the shortest route home and avoid confrontation.

Hi all.

 

After the latest news about the Sabre being final (not beta any more) I am looking into it. Thing is... I am also looking at the MiG-15, and I am in serious doubt between both. Ah, decisions...

Eventually I will possibly get both, but I have to start with one.

 

I'd like to know if any of the readers of this post normally plays in european time during nights, and if you do, which of these birds do you fly.

 

I guess I will see you online this week.

 

Both the Mig-15bis and F86F are extremely good DCS add-ons. I highly recommend getting both. As far as which one to get first, would you rather get a superlative point defense bomber interceptor or a superlative fighter? The Mig-15bis is optimized to down bombers, the F-86F is a great fighter. :thumbup: MJ

I can confirm, the AI puts on a really good fight! Great job, I can have a blast on the server even if I'm alone! :)

 

I also understand why certain planes are not available - if it was shot down the pilot has to be rescued. Now this is a cool feature, but it often leaves 80% of the planes unavailable. This might scare people off when joining the server.

(wink, wink) 176 Guards was activated on May 2nd and is currently based at Nalchick in Georgia.

 

176 Guard Fighter Aviation Regiment is a MiG-15bis unit that is dedicated to mastering the MiG and combating the Sabre.

Hi

The first time yesterday to fly on server..Have the pleasure to be this server..I love to fly a Mig 15..Hopefully bring my friends from Czech republic.

 

Pity that three mistakes for me in this great server..

 

1) High ping :) inessential ( hello from central europe )

 

2) frequent Lagg , dropp aircraft - inessential

I do not know if this caused high ping,

sometimes fly Il 2 CloD ATAG server,

ping the same as here and no lagg

 

3 ) Icons aircraft on the map F10 - I do not plan to remove them? According to me, AWACS be sufficient :)

I'll look into the high ping issue, how high was it? I am waiting for a 150Mbps fibre connection to be installed, no luck yet so I launched anyway.

 

The lagg is often caused by someone with high ping joining or leaving, looking at map objects with F10 -F7 etc

 

Icons are on initially for debugging for myself, this is not the final version of the server just an Alpha test for a few weeks before I finish introducing all the features I want.

The plan was to use the Fog of War option but it only seems to work for the Red side, it is not module dependent but coalition. so my map options are no icons or only own plane or full icons and I found that no icons led to people leaving the server because they couldn't find anyone on the server.

 

The reality with these planes is that they did not have radar, moved fast and had a ground controller directing them, using the F10 map is actually a step back from what a pilot would have had so not as big a deal as it may seem. I will look into the Fog of War option when the next patch is out again.

First, thanks for reporting this bug, I have looked into it and a few of the skins were wrong. Please try again now.

 

Also, No. 410 Sqn is one of the older RCAF camouflage skins that Jocko417 created and the installation instructions are not as complete as his other skins.

 

Please ensure that the skins are installed in:

 

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\CoreMods\aircraft\F-86\Liveries\F-86F Sabre\410 RCAF 300

 

Prior to 1.5 the final folder name was not as important and you could rename it anything and the skin would work, however now it must be exactly the same as the server.

 

Some programs will call the folder 410 RCAF 300 when they unzip it and some will call it 410_RCAF_300. Following the instructions in his other skins, I think it is 410 RCAF 300 that is correct and have called it that on the server.

I very much enjoy your server except for this one particular issue. I understand your need for testing and accept this but I would urge you to change this when you are finished testing. By change I mean get rid of the aircraft icons which show people's aircraft in the F10 view. I personally don't use it myself because of my dislike of it. I consider it cheating actually. Of course that puts me at a disadvantage when my opposition can go to F10 and see me but hey, it is what it is. I've always enjoyed the aspect of DCS or IL-2 BOS when you can suprise and kill your opponant when they fail to see you coming. Actual tactic in real world air combat. Puts those of us who use this at a great disadvantage when we are sneaking up on someone and then they look at F10 and boom, surprise gone. As far as people leaving server because they cannot find others; well you've got the GCI working (AWACS), you also got front lines in your brief and map view. Why not let people learn how to actually navigate properly using the aircraft equipment like finding a front line or enemy base using NDBs? That is what I do.

 

Sorry for the rant but had to say my piece. Get rid of player aircraft icons in F10 view please. :cry: :smilewink:

Heureka..410 skin is works. Error on my side..410_RCAF_300.
