Lenux Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 (edited) Please, do me a small favor, guys, if you have 2-3 minutes Just open the HUD settings, go to ROTARY 2 / ROTARY 1 and do very very small moves The round pointer is starting to shake / tremble, on some points. Is this a software bug ?? I wanted to use Rotary 2 or Rotary 1, for zooming in slow \ zooming out slow, but it's very annoying If i use the aluminium button for zooming in slow \ zooming out slow but it seems to response very slow In the attached printscreen you cant see that, but the pointer is trembling / shaking Thank you in advance Edited March 8, 2016 by Lenux I9 12900k@ 5 GHz | 32 GB DDR4 | Asus ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming Wifi d4| RTX 3090 | 6 TB SSD + 8 TB HDD | 4K Samsung Q90R 55" | VKB MK III PRO L | Virpil Throttle MONGOOST-50 | MFG Crosswind | TrackIR5

Dudikoff Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) I have a used X65F, but I don't remember seeing such issues. I do remember seeing the rotaries unstable on the X52 Pro, so perhaps they've put lower quality rotaries on the X55? The hats themselves seem to be of a much cheaper plastic than on the X65F and replacing three hats with simple buttons seems surprising; they can't cost that much and X65F is OOP anyway. Lenux Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) I was able to adjust the controls / settings for IL 2 BoS, i can use the aluminium wheel for zooming, it's working perfect. But i can't make it work for DCS. When i try to add the mouse wheel, to the mouse section, nothing happent, its greyed out. I can add some keyboard buttons, X55 stick or throttle, but nothing for the mouse under the DCS settings / controlls What am I doing wrong ?? For the keyboard i have F11 and F12 for zoom in slow / zoom out slow. Under IL 2 BoS, i deleted F11 and F12 and instead, i added the mouse wheel, but the settings menu works different under IL 2 BoS So, the question is : if the aluminium wheel is working PERFECT for zooming, under BoS, shouldn't the same wheel work for DCS as well ??? Gladman Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I use the bottom throttle rotary for zoom on all the modules. There is a shake at center but a simple slight movement forward or aft fixes it. Lenux Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 I wonder if all the X55 have the same rotary buttons shaking issue ( because of the cables ) As i said, i can send it back, i still have 2 days. Bourrinopathe Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I don't know if the aluminum button can work as smooth as the rotary ones, so I have no idea if it's helping me with the DCS settings... The aluminium "wheel" is not an axis and can't be used as a "(Saitek-)smooth" rotary :music_whistling: It's a rotary encoder, each step CW sends a button press input and each step CCW sends another button press (buttons 30 and 31 iirc). I find it rather comfortable to select display/sensors ranges (HDD/HUD in the Su-27). Also: thanks for the picture giei. I probably have a similar issue with my X-55: some buttons become unresponsive when my throttle handle is in the middle position. /// ВКБ: GF Pro MkII+MCG Pro/GF MkII+SCG L/Black Mamba MkIII/Gladiator/T-Rudder MkII | X-55 Rhino throttle/Saitek Throttle Quadrant | OpenTrack+UTC /// ZULU +4 /// /// "THE T3ASE": i9 9900K | 64 GB DDR4 | RTX 2080ti OC | 2 TB NVMe SSDs, 1 TB SATA SSD, 12 TB HDDs | Gigabyte DESIGNARE mobo ///

KLR Rico Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I have an X52, but have the same problem with poor pots. I found its best to just assign them to key presses using bands. For example: 0-33% - some key 34-65% - neutral 66-100% - another key i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS

Bourrinopathe Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 It's hard to tell if it would seem interesting to replace your X55 because if there are several reports about similar issues, some users are apparently satisfied with their unit. From what I've read and asked (fellow users here and there) the quality and reliability is inconsistent. For example, my metallic encoder on the throttle (the one on the handle) does not rotate freely all the way. It rubs significantly for a part of the 360° rotation - not reliable at all in my book (since day one). I have a friend with a button on the throttle that stopped working a few days after he took his X55 out of the box. I don't have that problem. Depending and what you can afford and what you expect for your flight sim controls, I'd suggest buying a reliable throttle and avoid Saitek/MadCatz at all cost. /// ВКБ: GF Pro MkII+MCG Pro/GF MkII+SCG L/Black Mamba MkIII/Gladiator/T-Rudder MkII | X-55 Rhino throttle/Saitek Throttle Quadrant | OpenTrack+UTC /// ZULU +4 /// /// "THE T3ASE": i9 9900K | 64 GB DDR4 | RTX 2080ti OC | 2 TB NVMe SSDs, 1 TB SATA SSD, 12 TB HDDs | Gigabyte DESIGNARE mobo ///
Lenux Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 (edited) I got the money back, for X55. Now the question is : what else should i buy ? I guess, X56 is the same poor quality, only with different colors, so is not worth, imo I would purchase Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, but i have no rudder pedals, and maybe it would be very difficult to use it for WW2 aircrafts, without Z axis / rudder pedals. It's really impossible to fly or take off ( WW2 planes ) without pedals / no Z axis ? What do you think, would be better ? Thrustmaster H.O.T.A.S. with pedals or X56 Rhino with joystick Z axis ? Some people says, the joystick option "Z axis" is far behind dedicated ruder pedals Edited April 28, 2016 by Lenux I9 12900k@ 5 GHz | 32 GB DDR4 | Asus ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming Wifi d4| RTX 3090 | 6 TB SSD + 8 TB HDD | 4K Samsung Q90R 55" | VKB MK III PRO L | Virpil Throttle MONGOOST-50 | MFG Crosswind | TrackIR5

ex81 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Lucky you ! About four weeks ago I returned a FLY 5 to the german support center. And they really did send me a new stick without any package material. Simply in a plastick bag. Boy oh boy, Saitek / MadCatz is always good for a surprise. What goes up, must come down !
